Marvel vs. Capcom Forum

So according to this Joystiq article, there are no current development plans for a third Marvel vs. Capcom game. Neither side has agreed to it, and the licensing issue is as always a nightmare.

That said, according to Killian (in glorious "Its in your best interest to buy our games" spin mode) says that Capcom is certainly interested in making another one. They just need to convince Marvel. And the best way to convince Marvel to do anything? By giving them money of course. Apparently the grand plan Capcom cooked up is that if the downloadable version of MvC2 sells well, then they'll reopen negotiations with Marvel to make another one, hopefully in SFIV's awesome 3-D engine.

Too good to be true spin to sell more copies of the game? Or just another reason to support the currently rolling in it Capcom? You decide.

I'm going to need 5 tissues...

But this probably wouldn't come out for a LONG time. Creating an all new game with a new engine (could use SF4 engine) optimizing it and tweaking for the big amount of characters. I won't hold my breath for it coming to consoles.
