Mary

Mary is a very complex young woman, who has been clearly traumatized by most of the men in her life, most of whom have taken sexual advantage of her and/or blatantly abused her. A good deal of her past is relatively unknown/ambiguous, though she confides in the player (if spoken to enough) that she was born in the Aurora guild's Shadowlair, and was shortly thereafter recruited by Aurora's collective grouping of technomancers, otherwise known as "The Source". When she was generally young, her (at the time) technomancer master took her with her to a battlefield, where eventually she was separated from him and was almost assaulted by a group of Abundance's (the rival guild at war with Aurora) soldiers, though that was stopped by the man that would become her new master, Sean.

While Sean treated her relatively well while she was in his company, as had been the case prior he took sexual advantage of her, and cared relatively little for her actual persona based off what's stated by Mary within Mars: War Logs. Gradual events lead to her befriending Roy (Temperance, War Logs' protagonist) despite initial anger towards him, and depending on a player's actions Mary's faith in men is largely renewed if Roy shows her enough kindness/compassion through the course of the game. Though she's frequently labeled at least mildly unstable by most characters that come into contact with her through War Logs' plot, she can prove to be a very loyal ally/friend to Roy, and overall is still a generally compassionate character that frequently merits/evokes sympathy from the game's player(s).
