Megami Tensei
Masakado is a recurring figure in the Megami Tensei franchise, often portrayed as the guardian deity of Tokyo.
Shin Megami Tensei
Following the great flood incited by the messians, Neutrally aligned players may visit Taira-no-Masakado's dwelling on a secluded promontory. He tells the protagonist that his arrival here is a good omen, signaling an end to the bloody conflict taking place in the Great Cathedral. He then grants the player "Masakado's Katana", one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
Shin Megami Tensei II
When Aleph arrives in Roppongi he is greeted by Hiruko, Masakado's loyal servant. He tells the player of how his master's body was torn into 6 pieces and scattered around Tokyo, a result of the internal conflict between the Yamato gods.
If Aleph gathers all 6 pieces he may fuse them together at the Cathedral of Shadows, forming the complete (but soulless) body of Masakado. His soul can later be retrieved from Hiruko, who had been safeguarding it in anticipation of his master's return. The soul must then be joined together with it's body at the Cathedral once more.
Upon his revival Aleph will receive the Sun Pillar and Katana of Masakado. He then destroys the barrier guarding the sealed cave and advises Aleph to free the trapped Amatsukami within.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
If the Demi-Fiend brings all 24 Magatama to the Cathedral of Shadows he will be given the "Lord's Blade". The Cathedral's minister then advises him to visit Masakado's grave with the sword in his possession.
When the player arrives at the gravestone he will be sent to the Bandou Shrine. Once each pillar is lowered and all 4 Devas have been defeated, the Demi-Fiend will be allowed to meet Masakado face-to-face. He will question the Demi-fiend's resolve, though regardless of what choice is selected he will grant the player the ultimate Magatama, Masakados.
