Just wanted to know how many hours were spent on your first playthroughs, did you just want to get to the end or did you mine every planet dry, and complete every side mission. Also what difficulty did you play on. My first playthrough came in at 45h33m, playing on normal difficulty, and I'm pretty sure i did every side mission.

My first was 22 hours, didn't do every side mission but did all the Illium, Omega and Citadel side missions, some N7 missions and all of the loyalty missions.  Was a Vanguard on Normal.
Doing every side mission on the second one as a sentinel on Veteran. Got about 13 hours so far and done all N7 and hub city missions, doing the loyalty ones now of which I have Tali, Jack, Samara, Thane and Legion left to do.

37 hours. I didn't do all the side missions.  But I did all the loyalty quests and did a lot of talking to people.

40 hours, I scanned almost every planet for anomalys (probably left 15%, I couldn't wait any longer to see the end) did all the loyalty missions and did a lot of talking.

Around 41 hours. Did everything, but I didn't scan every planet into poverty, haha.

#6 Posted by Maxszy (2064 posts) -

27 hours on my first play through. As much as I wanted to continue doing every little thing...the main story was just so good and so engrossing that I just ended up going for it. Second play through was shorter, about 20 hours as all I did was the main missions and loyalty missions for the most part. Just started my third, going to take some more time to do more side missions this time before I go any farther.

42 hours, i did almost every side mission and scanned every damn planet...  guess i coulda gone without scanning all the planets.
#8 Posted by Codas (18 posts) -

22 hours, completed every loyalty/recruitment quest and scanned every planet. The only quest I did not complete was that package quest on Omega.

I'm shocked by all these 40 hour playthroughs, are you guys trying to mine every planet into dust or what?

@Codas: Mineral whores...what can one do with them...
#10 Edited by Cornman89 (1579 posts) -

35 hours.

Now on my 2nd playthrough and on track to finish within 25 hours. I must've really dicked around that first time.

#11 Posted by ImperiousRix (2963 posts) -

31 hours.  Talked to just about everybody, did every quest I could find, did all loyalty missions, and was playing on Normal.

#12 Posted by SlayerNoMercy (67 posts) -

bout 38 hrs!

#13 Posted by zolika (110 posts) -

~30 hours, on normal.

#14 Edited by HatKing (5977 posts) -

At the point I beat the story I was right around 37:48(I think).  Afterwards I went and scanned every planet for side quests, did every side quest on each of the big cites and bought all the upgrades I had.  That save file is just a few minutes over exactly 50:00.  I'm pretty impressed, to 100% Mass Effect 1 I put 40 hours in and that was with all the stupid empty planets.

EDIT:  It was on normal.
#15 Posted by Time_Lord (720 posts) -

46:48 on normal.

#16 Posted by Andorski (5331 posts) -

Around 35 hours.  If the list I went off of was correct, I did all the side missions on top of getting all loyalties.  Also had a bunch of minerals left from doing too much planet scanning.

#17 Posted by raidingkvatch (1156 posts) -

Approx 40 hours (on normal), I didn't do every side mission, but I did quite a few and scanned quite a few planets to get a bunch of upgrades towards the end.

#18 Posted by eezo (284 posts) -

took me about 30hrs :) did all side missions/loyalty and got all the uppgrades..
#19 Posted by Shaunage (712 posts) -

26 hours and I did basically everything.

#20 Edited by xyzygy (10008 posts) -

63 hours and a few minutes over, on Veteran. I read all codex entries, talked to everyone I could, constantly checked up on crewmates to see if they had any problems, did all assignments, explored every planet, did all N7 Anomaly quests, all Loyalty quests, bought every upgrade possible (Possible for that playthrough - I missed a Heavy Pistol to scan in the field, I think it was on Haestrom). I basically did every single thing you can do in the game and really fleshed it out.

#21 Posted by Nictel (2421 posts) -

35 hours, didn't do any of the planet/N7 side missions. Wanted to get to the ending!

#22 Edited by Semition (731 posts) -

16 hours. I did all the loyalty quests and got all the important upgrades.
I guess the mouse makes the scanning a lot faster.

#23 Posted by Delta_Ass (3280 posts) -

51 hours, Veteran difficulty. Didn't do all the N7 quests.

#24 Posted by JeanLuc (3586 posts) -

27 hours, only did some side missions.

#25 Posted by Milkman (16846 posts) -

26 hours, did every side  mission I could but I didn't scan every planet because I'm not insane.

Just under 40 hours on Normal, starting a new one on Insanity though. : )

21 hours.

#30 Posted by samcotts (2258 posts) -

44 hours on medium. I think I did every side quest, and I only mined about 20% of the planets, if that.

I don't believe anyone who finished it under 30 hours got the most out of Mass Effect 2.

#31 Posted by SonicBoyster (354 posts) -

Did every mission in the game save for the Patriarch one (I didn't even find it until my second playthrough) on Veteran difficulty and it was about 45 hours.

#32 Posted by RVonE (4642 posts) -

I don't recall the exact time but it was somewhere around the 55 hour mark. I did every quest and read every codex entry and planet description. Also, I mined every planey untill its scan result was "poor" or "depleted". Everyone survived.

46hr 46m

Good job!

I finished at level 27, 39 hours and 49 minutes. Normal.

Scanned every single planet for side missions, did every single one I could find. Pretty much did everything short of mining every planet and buying every upgrade (was low on credits, couldn't get more...).

#36 Posted by H4wkeye (53 posts) -

About 32-33 hours. My whole team/crew survived.

#37 Posted by zyn (2591 posts) -

22 hours, 13 minutes.

#38 Edited by spazmaster666 (1968 posts) -

My first playthrough was 28h.09m on Insanity after the last mission was completed and 31h.15m after I scanned all the planets and did all the side missions (I switched the difficulty to Veteran after I finished the last mission).

#39 Posted by JiuJitsuka85 (377 posts) -

30 Hours. Felt like alot less. Makes me want ALOT more.

#40 Posted by Bobby_The_Great (1005 posts) -

35 on veteran and did all the side missions/loyalty quest and upgrades.
#41 Posted by pause422 (6190 posts) -

About 37 ish hours.

#42 Posted by Grilledcheez (3948 posts) -

Around 30 hours...probably closer to 32 on veteran and I only did a few side quests.

Ya that's what I'm working on now, I'm already six hours in and have only recruited Mordin, I'm finding Insanity crazy hard, what do you think of it?

I haven't finished the game yet. I had no idea you could continue on with the game after beating the main story. Guess that means I don't have to do every little sidequest before going to the final mission.
#45 Posted by CitizenKane (10506 posts) -

Around 30hrs.

#46 Posted by WonderboyCoz (153 posts) -
@handlas:  wait, you wouldn't call 31 hours long?

I finished my first playthrough in 34 hours and I was glad to get so much content, I did every side mission and got most of the upgrades, had about 10 small ones to get and had no team members die, veteran difficulty.

About half way through my Insanity playthrough now, some of these encounters are a real bitch, thank god for tech armour

@Kazona:
Yeah at a certain point you'll know you're about to go on the last mission.  It is a good idea to just go do it and not mess around too much before it(you can still finish up loyalty missions).  If you wait too long there will be certain repercussions.  You can always go and do the side quests later.  Also save before going on the mission.
#48 Posted by The_Philosopher (570 posts) -

31 hours for me. I did everyone's side missions and bought all the ship upgrades as well. Long ass game if you take your time and enjoy it. I'm glad Bioware is one of the few developers making games more than 6-8 hours long.

Only 16 saves? I had around 210 when I finished, 4 different save slots. ;)

Took 30 hours for me to finish.
