- We have not forgotten about the squad members from ME1. Whatever role surviving ME1 squad members play in ME2, they will be treated with respect. We want people to look at where those followers are now and say, "Yep, that's what they'd do."

- In some cases, it is possible that squad members from ME1 could end up in your ME2 squad. Again, we're trying to approach this with respect for the characters. Nobody is being clumsily shoehorned in or casually written out. All surviving squad members are at least present as NPCs with important story roles.

- BioWare is not currently giving details about which squad members may possibly join up with Shepard. We hope that part of the joy of ME2 for people who played the first game is seeing what has happened to people you cared about over the last two years, and we don't want to spoil that.

So some will be at least able to be recruited and those who might not be will still play major roles.  Sounds good to me.

I'll enjoy the game regardless, but this kind of sucks.

Well, at least all of the previous squad members are still in the second game (if they survived).  That provides some consolation.

Aww man you know what I just thought of? I don't if I want to import the file I hooked up with Ashley in, or the blue alien girl!  Ahh I'll choose blue alien girl, you can hook up with a human in any other game.

If there is no option to get it on with Wrex (for both male shepherd and female) I for one will not be buying the game.

Bioware created a great universe with seemingly deep backstory, but most of their characters were very one-dimensional and flat.

Honestly, the only one I found interesting was Wrex. Hopefully, there's a worthy successor in ME2.

at least Ashley is out of the pictures. She was a good soldier but very racist. Ohh well does not matter I killed her off in all my  playthroughs.

I'm kinda expecting more announcements like this about Mass Effect 2.  For that 'continue from your save' to work, they're going to have to keep the impact of most of it to an absolute minimum.

I expect the major decisions from the last 10 minutes of ME1 to be all tied up ASAP at the beginning of ME2.  The decision about who is running the Council would have a massive effect on how the resistance goes for example - so they'll probably all be wiped out in the opening cutscene or something.   I hope it doesn't end up feeling too forced and we don't end up wishing they had just chosen a canon storyline and gone from there.

(For the record, I thought Ashley was an awesome character.  I rolled with Ashley and Wrex usually.  Garrus was pretty cool too.)

As long as Garrus is in the game, I'm happy.

I am going to play through my game again and not kill Wrex this time, because it sounds like there is still a possibility. I can't go through a Mass Effect playthrough without hearing "...Shepard" at least 100 times!

They were discussing this topic on the most recent ListenUp podcast, but there was some disagreement.  One person seemed to think that Wrex wouldn't be in the party and that all ME1 characters wouldn't be in the party, but another person (Garnett I think) said he saw one of the characters from the previous game in the demo they played for them...or at least someone he thinks was a character in ME1.

Either way, I rolled most of the game with Liara and Tali, so as long as they are around, I'm cool with it (sisters were doin' it for themselves)...sadly, my Shepard's love interest (Kaidan) died, so he'll still be dead in the follow up, too. [oops spoiler warning :-)]  As for Wrex, he's alive in my game (Shepard's a smooth talker) so I'll enjoy seeing him return to complain.

I played a fem Shepard just so I could have the voices of Bastilla Shan and Carth Onasi (Kaiden) back together.  Ultimately though, Kaiden was a whiney bitch and he had to be left behind.

Not a big deal, I killed Wrex anyway. Dirty Krogan..............................
