Does anyone know if there will be the lovely film grain effect like in the first Mass Effect?

I must admit, I didn't really get the film grain effect until many hours into the game and thought it was my HDMI cable messing up.

I hope not as I hated it in ME and turned it off, as well as motion blur, as soon as I could.

I hope so, I thought it was a really nice effect that complimented the movie-esque style of the game.

I think I remember seeing it in the demo they showed at E3.  I'm not 100% certain, though.

I turned it off on the first playthrough, but then I learned to appreciate it.

I didn't even notice it to be honest.

They should add a slider for it. It was too strong for my tastes in the first one.

This times a thousand.

I liked it, but didn't keep it on because it was a bit overbearing.

Same here. With some exceptions, I almost always turn off effects that reduce graphical realism (pretty much just those two effects, actually).

I take it that by "lovely" you mean: fucking piece of shit effects.

I bought myself a LCD TV just so these idiots can throw grain effects on the screen. And why include motion blur in a game? motion blur is a bad thing, its being caused by the fact that movies can only do 24/29 frames and games don't have those limitations. Maybe if they would put even more motion blur in the game, we don't see the texture popup next time.

I think it will be the same deal and at least its optional.

Nicely detailed helicopter huh?

To tell the truth, I didn't notice any film grain but maybe that's because I have a regular non-HD television.

That's fine, but just because you don't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the game as an option.

Another reason Motion blur should be banned:

Now that's true.

Even though I think film grain is bad in games, this made the game look more realisitic to me, I took it off and while the game looked cleaner, everyone had more of a plastic look to them.  I think that since it was on default in the first ME, it will definitely be in the next game.

To be honest I didn't notice it in the first Mass Effect, but I'm sure if I truned it off I would. Actually I don't really know what it does...makes the screen grainy? lol :P
