Citadel is a two part download

#1 Edited by Zirilius (716 posts) -

I have no clue why but there are two parts to download for this.

Part 1 is 1200 points and is about a 2gb download and part 2 is free but required if you want to play the Citadel DLC.

DLC download size limit on Xbox live is the reason.

Ahh I didn't even think of that. Figured with them doing full game downloads now that wouldn't be an issue.

For $15 I'm curious about if its worth it. I really like Mass Effect and got about halfway through the trailer because if I picked it up in the future I'd rather not know the details.

My ideal dlc was Lair of The Shadow Broker and I wonder if its something akin to that, as opposed to something like Omega. If anyone had initial impressions I'd love to hear them!

I am downloading it right now on the pc and it is over 3 gigs so this dlc is very big. I also herd Xbox live has a 2gig cap on dlc so they had to put it up in two parts.

For anyone wondering about if it's worth it, I'd argue that it is. If you've built any sort of attachment to any of the squad members over the course of the trilogy you'll want to pick it up as each and everyone of them make an appearance in it. It's genuinely funny at points as well. Well worth the $15 I paid for it

It's absolutely worth it. I got about 8 hours of gameplay out of the DLC, and much of it was awesome. The mission itself is about 2 and a half hours, then you've got about 2-3 hours worth of character interactions and conversations taking place in the new Citadel hub area and Shepard's chill new apartment. Then there are about 2-3 hours worth of combat simulator missions (similar to MP, but different enough to be somewhat interesting). In addition there are a handful of minigames at the arcade and casino in the new hub area.

The tone is far lighter than the main game, but if you have any attachment to the characters, and I mean pretty much every main character from all three games, you are going to love this DLC.

Sounds like this dlc is pretty awesome. Would you guys recommend picking up omega also?

eh...

Omega isn't the best ME DLC. It's pretty basic ME3 levels with a fairly interesting (though underutilized) new character and Carrie Anne Moss completely phoning it in as Aria. It's also really unpolished and full of missing sound effects and animation glitches. Leviathan and Citadel blow it away in terms of quality.

Sounds pretty good. Looking forward to having some free time to replay the whole series with all of its DLC.

@sackmanjones: It depends on what you're looking for. It runs about 3 hours with a 90-10 split between action and story. The story stuff is all Aria centric as well. I enjoyed it, mostly for the Turian female and the main antagonist was also pretty cool. I love everything ME and think the action in 3 is the best, so it was definitely worth the money to me, but might not be worth it to you if you're not as keyed in to the shooting/space magic.

In my opinion, this is pound for pound the best DLC that Mass Effect has had, period. An absolutely stellar way to say goodbye to the trilogy, one last time. The last cutscene almost got me choked up.

This sounds really awesome, I heard it might be a prequel to ME3, before earth is attacked. That would make alot more sense, than just goofing around on the citadel while earth is under attack.

here's a playthrough of the dlc for folks interested in seeing the content.

That's the one complaint I really have it with it. If you can get over the fact that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for all these character to be chilling and partying on the citadel with the fate of the galaxy in the balance. it's a really great way to send the trilogy and these characters off into the sunset.

I didn't have too many problems with the tone and core conceit mostly because I was playing this stand alone, but I can imagine it feeling pretty weird as part of a full playthrough to take a 5-8 hour detour to goof off on the Citadel in between Thessia and Sanctuary or whenever you choose to play it. The save I loaded was before the assault on Chronos Station, and in that context it makes no goddamn sense, but whatever, the DLC is still awesome.

I always thought the pacing was really messed up in ME3, you start off and earth is under attack leading you to go get help for Earth, this makes every side quest seem silly.

I would of had the Earth being invaded thing like the oh shit moment at the end like 80% of the way though, and from all the decisions you made doing the missions around the galaxy in the 3 games, came down to who would come help you.

Just randomly clicked through it and saw one instant of combat, this looks worth buying.

Could someone tell me what point in the game this is best played at? I'm assuming my renegade character who got everyone killed is not appropriate, but I have a pretty paragon playthrough too, I think...

Can only be started after Cereburs attacks the Citadel.

Is anybody else having trouble starting the citadel DLC? Everytime I try to acces the galaxy map my Xbox freezes up.

I loved this DLC so much. A TON of content. Well worth the money.
