Hey folks,

Just wanted to give a heads-up to those still playing the Mass Effect multiplayer that the Earth DLC just went live on the Xbox Marketplace. Got one of the new characters right away, and have had a pretty good impression of the new maps so far.

Downloading now, and going to bed. For everyone posting in this thread who gets a new character, can you post the type of pack that you found them in? I think that would be helpful for all of us.

I got a Paladin and a Shadow in Premium Spectre Packs. Not both in the same one, of course, but just as a heads up.

So far the Shadow is pretty effective. I've had mixed results with the Paladin.

i'll start the download as as soon as i finish downloading the games i bought in the steam sale, curious to play as some of the new classes

I have everything expect the one I wanted... Destroyer evades me.

I was hoping for the Rio map to be near the future Cristo Redentor (buuu!) still pretty good stuff, haven't seen the first N7 in action yet and since as of now I got like 5000 credits I would probably won't play as one for a while.

How about the on disc DLC that was available for "download" on release day? Doing this for one game doesn't make up for the dozens upon dozens of shitty moves EA has made.

If they were free, they would come with character classes unlocked. The DLC is being paid for by people spending real money to pay for random unlocks. Meanwhile, EA lowers the effectiveness of the most powerful classes, weapons, and techniques through constant forced updates. This practice makes it harder to reliably earn credits, and more likely that players will break down and pay real money for a chance of the upgrade that they've been waiting for and never get.

I would not be at all surprised if EA made more money from this than they would the amount of people buying all levels and character upgrade packs at five dollars for each DLC pack. There are people who have spent hundreds of dollars on ME3 online.

I got an N7 Slayer out of a Veteran Pack, so I can't complain too much. Only saw one of the new maps in 7-8 random games tonight, though...

Rio and Vancouver maps are great, while the London map is a clusterfuck imo. I have opened quite a few paks and still no new characters, but I've played with quite a few. The Demolisher(N7 engineer)in particular seems awesome. Grenade and shield regen cannister! And the escort missions are very cool.

You mean the Prothean DLC? That was partially on the disc, not entirely. Whatever the case, they've been good with this game.

You mean the Prothean DLC? That was partially on the disc, not entirely. Whatever the case, they've been good with this game.

I agree but, again, that doesn't make up for how shitty they've treated customers. Just a couple weeks ago they started shutting down their official Battlefield servers. The consoles have exactly zero official servers at the moment. Which means that if you are even just an above average player, you're getting booted by asshole admins before the match is over and you get no experience. This is happening in ranked matches. That is complete bullshit.

It isn't surprising that a few pieces of DLC often make people forget problems that still linger.

@SpaceInsomniac: I'll have to disagree with you in the "lower the effectiveness of the more powerful classes" any class can stand by it's own and while there are some that have better skills than others the newer classes don't make the old ones obsolete , I've been using a Human Engineer and at level 18 I end up in first place for almost all the matches even when the new N7 classes are on the team and I've played the multiplayer without spending a dime , 2 silver matches are enough to make credits for the specter pack wich gets you what you want most of the times, while you're probably right and they found a way to make money of the multiplayer so offering the content for free is a better "deal" they could've still charged for the map packs like other multiplayer games do while also using the microtransactions and you can obviously play the multiplayer without spending any real money on it.

@KoolAid It is more a general observation. The various crap storms from screw ups are healed with time and throwing software at people.
