When Mass Effect 3 finally comes about, how do you think they will let you change your characters appearance and class if you import your ME2 character? They can't rebuild you because thats been done. Maybe Shepard just decides to get plastic surgery?
Mass Effect 3
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Mar 06, 2012
When Earth begins to fall in an ancient cycle of destruction, Commander Shepard must unite the forces of the galaxy to stop the Reapers in the final chapter of the original Mass Effect trilogy.
How will ME3 go about letting you customize your import character
the game starts with liara talking to a man in the shadows with a voice modulator, he's asking the asari about one commander shepard.
Liara insists she doesn't know what the man is talking about as he activates his omnitool, showing liara a large holographic image of shepard and liara together on illium.
The man asks liara if she remembers anything about shepard. (at this point the character customisation screen pops up and when you are done it reverts back to the scene) At which point liara actually describes shepard's appearance.
Yes mofo, they will record 800 lines of dialogue to describe shepard.
I am from the future, i have played it.

But I don't get why they just don't let you customize it before-hand, and pretend you looked like that in the last game, too. Hell, they never explain why every species in the galaxy speaks the same damn language, and I'm alright with that. (Aside from the Salarian game salesman saying something about Batarian's refusing to use their voice-translater machines in video games or something.)
Every species carries an automatic translator implant or omnitool software. it's also in computers for translating written documents.
Hanar have used technology to give vocalisation to their bioluminescent speech and subsequently this is picked up by universal translators.
The software for all of this is automatically updated hundreds of times a day as it connects wirelessly to networks and the firmware updates for it are available on the extranet which is a galactic internet system using the mass relays to send digital information faster then the speed of light.
you should read the novels if you havn't already, they explain quite a bit about how the universe works.

"Maybe they blow up the Normandy again or if you cheated on your ME1 character, that person shoots you in the face with a shotgun. "
I guess there will be two outcomes:
- If your Shepard's dead/you start a dead new game, you get to create a new, costumised character that will follow Shepard's trail - for example, as a crew member, and the Shepard you meet will be the default Vanderloo mode.
- You import your guy/lady and continue as normal.
This is the only way it would makes sense in my opinion - it would be hard to get away with that Liara bit someone posted before, as people know how Shepard looks ultimately.
" That's assuming that you are going to be allowed to re-customize Shepard's appearance. "your going to be able too because there going to have to make it for the people that haven't played ME1 and 2...
"

Not to try and revive a dead topic or anything, but I would like to be able to change classes in New Game +
Dont know. Im more interested to see if they have to cut back on the ME 1 stuff on ME 3 to accomodate the PS3 players of ME 3, since they dont get teh first game. (you know ME 3s coming to PS3, its just a matter of a offical announcement now.)
@Raven_Sword: It may be delayed like ME2; I'm sure Microsoft will pay for a year exclusive or something like that.
" @trophyhunter: Yes that allows for customization and a reunion with the ME1 love interest. Two birds, one vat of acid. I love it.Or mass effect 3 will be a story told by senile 90 year shepherd. "Now was I a woman 50 years ago?"

The Reapers will capture Shepard through one way or another and turn him to their cause, modifying him to the new upgraded version of the class of your choice and changing his appearance if the player so wishes. The beginning part of the game will be Shepard working for the Reapers before being rescued and un-indoctrinated.
After working with Cerberus/TIM Shepard becomes a wanted man and has to change his name and appearance. That would help with having to regain loyalty with current crew members as well since they don't necessarily trust that you are their former commander.
This would cover the fact that Shepard can die at the end of ME2 as well.
I have my doubts itll swing that way. Just dosent seem likely. Id assume EA would rather have more users palying it then a one time cash sum. But hey, MS has proved me wrong before with the money. And honestly, it urks me that MS is forced to do that now that they have little exclusive franchises right now. I mean, they did it before, but now they REALLY gotta do it.

I like it. The whole unidoctrinating thing is canon breaking, but I like it. I know Benezia and Paul Grayson would have like to learn that trick, but it's Shepherd--he can't really be indoctrinated: He was only kidding@odintal said:

It doesn't really work if Shepherd actually died. Secondly, Tim Shepherd: "What nobody's going to fall for this!" Illusive Man: "Bring in Exhibit A" Enter Wrex: Shepherd! Tim: "It's Tim Shepherd; I'm John's Twin he never talks about." Wrex: "Sorry, my mistake" Tim: "..."@pornstorestiffi said:
" Ever seen the movie Face/off... "I like where this is going. Shepherd takes Wrex's face so he's a human with a Krogan face and Wrex is a Krogan with a human face!@Raven_Sword said:

This is going into Random Mass Guessing/fanfiction but the Protheans could have worked out a way to reverse indoctrination. In LotSB, it's theorized by someone that maybe the Protheans had other plans besides just sabotaging the Citadel. My RMG is maybe they were working on a way to reverse indoctrination in order to defeat a major weapon the Reapers had; namely, their indoctrinated brethren. They could have made an incomplete or even completed reversal tech but by the time they had, either they were too late or they just never had a chance to use it before being wiped out. They find it in ME3 and use it on indoctrinated Shepard. (Addendum: the tech is only usable on Prothean minds, making it useless for everyone but Shepard, seeing as he has the Cipher and Prothean memories).@OmegaChosen said:

This is all BS though, seeing as I'm making random guesses on stuff. This is just my way of explaining the un-indoctrination in some semi-comprehensible way.
The Prothean technology isn't a un-indoctrinator, it's a indoctrinator/re-indoctrinator that works on the reapers and organic beings alike (which is why they were studying humans and implanting them from Mars) , but Cereberus already has a counter-measure, and The IM has Aria backing him. Meanwhile, Admiral Hackitt creates a task force that destroys the Blue Suns, Eclipse, and Blood Pack, and he has his eyes on Cerberus and the Shadow Broker. Further, the Citadel, appalled by the arrogance of Humanity declares war on humanity--Batarians rejoin the Citadel. On Tuchanyka, a guilt ridden Mordin Solus cures the genophage, only to discover he made the insanely fertile Krogans even more fertile! And to fight this new threat, the Salarians teach the yahg about space flight, what could possibly go wrong? The Geth, having assimilated/destroyed the heratics, seek their new way, only to discover that the Galactic war will bring destruction to their new way--a unanimous vote is passed to eradicated organic life. Maybe they just won't explain it. Or maybe they'll just give up on letting people customize faces, because I think it's a dumb idea in the first place, and that it only results in faces that don't look right and don't animate right.
Actualy, my response was meant at your response to what I said. Sorry that the @ whoever got mixed up.

I think my Lady Shepard looks waaaaay better than the standard one. It took a long time to get it to look right, but it was worth it.
And I don't know if they will let you recustomize. They have to let new players customize, but that doesn't necessarily it needs to be contextualized in the game itself. In ME1 it was sort of contextualized, but not within the continuity of the story.
Officer Birklee is fresh out of pilot training, and his scores have thus far rivaled that of Jeff 'Joker'. With such an aptitude for flying, he attracts attention from Cerberus. He's quickly welcomed aboard, and issued to the Normandy to help Commander Shepherd. Warned by his superiors of Shepherds Ruthlessness / Desire to put the mission before the crew / willingness to put his own crew in danger to do the right thing or help someone out, he decides to watch some Video Logs of the events that Shepherd has took part in. He first glances at a portfolio on Shepherd, and when he glances on it, is when you get to choose his appearance and class. Via the video logs, he's reminded of all the critical decisions Shepherd took leading up to the Battle of the Citadel, and all the decisions and lives lost on Shepherd's mission to the center of the Galaxy.
Bam. If I can do it, so can Bioware.
I was annoyed that I couldn't tweak my dudes faces when starting ME2 without starting from scratch.
They should release something like the Spore Creature Creator, and the Fable Pub games beofre hand so you can Re-establish your Commander, remember what the hell that playthrough did, and alter appearances, without spoilers for the new game. And earn some bonus unlocks, XP, minerals for the start of ME3. I'm thinking motion comic with basest of interaction to make decisions. Also, let new players/Sheperds establish a non-shite storyline for themselves (no Wrex = boo)
