Love Alex's articles, always makes me laugh :)
I hope they are able to make a good multiplayer experience, sounds like it's possible now the shooter controls are closer to a modern shooters feel.

Bioware should have made a regular KOTOR 3 and made Mass Effect an MMO instead.
Why didn't you do this, Bioware? I would LIFETIME SUBSCRIBE that shit like Jeff did STO.
Speaking of MMOs I want, someone do Mechwarrior. C'mon...
It will be very hard for me to see this as anything but forced into the game to try and avoid second-hand sales and piracy. We shall see though.
I bet I'm one of the only people here who's been actively hoping for multiplayer in the Mass Effect games since the first one came out. All of the different planets, races, and powers could make for a really deep competitive multiplayer experience, and their shooting gameplay is quickly getting to the place where I'd be comfortable using it in a competitive setting. I just hope it's not campaign co-op. I come to Mass Effect because I can really dig deep into it, read everything, talk to everyone, and really make the world and characters mine. In other words, it'd be effing boring to play that game in co-op with me
Bioware can't fuck anything up...
Dragon Age 2 disagrees.

Thanks Bioware for taking the time and money to develop a feature most fans of your game don't want and won't play.
Here's a free tip for developers: tacking on a multiplayer component to your primarily singleplayer game is not a good way to "combat" used game sales.
That's cool bro. Thanks for the advice.
bitch co op will not ruin the game i guess if u just get to play another companion but anything else seems out of place
I will still play it for the story because I love this series, but I am not interested in multi-player at all. Short of this mode being the second coming, making me rich in 30 days or less or any other ridiculous claim, I could care less.
Some people are saying that co-op might sound cool but remember what kind of game Mass Effect is. The combat is not the reason we play Mass Effect. It's the story, the characters, the choices, you know the non combat stuff. I know for a fact I won't be playing it and considering that it was added in at the 11th hour, (remember Mass Effect 3 was supposed to come out next month. They more than likely delayed it for the multiplayer), it will probably be... not good.
Are those turret sequences they showed at E3 going to be in the multiplayer too? Because when I watched that demo all I could think about was manning a turret online for Mass Effect 3 and not the story...
I don't want this, either co-op or competitive.
Come to think about it, I hold the single-player DLC with the cerberus network code in ME2 to be of more value than any form of multiplayer they could put in ME3. So, from the perspective of EA convincing me to buy a new copy, they are taking something of a step back with a multiplayer online pass. Then again, I guess I am not the audience they are trying to convince, as I already have the collector's edition on pre-order.
Also, EA, I do not want multiplayer in Mirror's Edge 2, Dragon Age 3, Dante's Purgatorio or Dead Space 3. Those are all franchises I only want to play single-player, and for which a tacked on multiplayer will be wasted effort - see Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2. But you are gonna put multiplayer in in them anyway, aren't you?

I actually really liked the ME1 gameplay. ME3 is supposed to be closer to that then ME2 if I remember correctly. And it's a squad based game, so I think coop could work really well. Not that it much matters: I was turned off Mass Effect in 2.
First, who the fuck wants multiplayer?
Second, who cares about co-op? Hey, I'll get right on enjoying that slick co-op content next time I have a play-date with my fellow thirty-something year old associates.
Also, can we just start referring to co-op as co-op and competitive multiplayer as multiplayer?

Co-op would have one major flaw: Who the hell would want to play Mass Effect 3 as as anyone but Shepard? Insane!
But I have all these calibrations sitting around.
Video game fans are the worst. I don't understand people getting pissed over this. If you don't want to play multiplayer/co-op, then don't play it. Nobody is forcing you to. Why get up in arms about something that is entirely optional? If you want ME to be single player only, then it still can be.
When it comes to news editing, Patrick is Paragon, Alex is Renegade. Make no mistake: I love them both.

Whether or not you find the combat enjoyable or not it isn't the reason most people play the game. It's not bad but let's say that someone asks you whether they should give the Mass Effect games a try or not, what part of the game will you use to convince them to give it a try? Will you bring up the OK combat or the amazing stories that are told in both games, (minus the stupid Terminator boss)?
