So yeah, Mass Effect 3 toys with codes that, once redeemed, become weapons and characters. Seems a lot pricier than the Activision offering and no portal of power equivalent so my interest has already waned. Still, neat idea. What do you think?

It's not really the same thing. It's just a normal action figure that comes with a card with a download code printed on it.

Like anything related to DLC so people need to chill they're at a 10 when they need to be at a 2, and I rather have Mass Effect action figures toys than Skylanders any day

Ok. So they're just action figures. I have them and I love them. However, I don't like the fact that people can purchase these "to make your multiplayer squad stronger". That's giving an advantage to people that have money to throw around. That's one of the reasons why I won't buy Diablo III.

Well. I won't be losing any sleep over it. I don't get why people love Bioware so much. They're not that great of a video game developer. It's not like good writers are rare. Obviously they prioritize story over everything else, but so what? You can watch good film or read good books. I play Bioware games just as much as the next guy, but I'm not blinded and fooled by their magic tricks and illusions. I mean come on, TOR, crappy DLC, linear games. Why do people obsess over Bioware?

What good is a miniature sized rifle or helmet going to do my man sized Shepard?

Only way I will be bothered at all by this is if they stick an achievement behind them or something, which I doubt they will do.

That being said....I would probably buy them all if I could afford it.

This is less comparable to Skylanders and more comparable to the WoW plush pets that come with pet codes.

I bought a 6" Tali figure because she is great but I'll be damned if I'm going to fork over any money for Joker's sex robot just for a multiplayer weapon.

All the more reason to play the shit out of the singleplayer and completely ignore the multiplayer.

Doubtful when you consider how Mass Effect 2 had a number of DLC items that were included with specially marked grocery items, and that shit was never released elsewhere. Still, like others mentioned, this current promotion affects multiplayer only.

When I was 7, my friends and I would play with our Mego Star Trek toys. We were young and curious so Uhura spent a lot of time with her face jammed against the other crewmen as we made kissing noises. Spock got the most action. At some point, she usually lost her top and we'd giggle as if we'd unearthed a National Geographic tribal pictorial. That was about as far as it went because we were 7 and this is long before any kid could see every sexual fetish imaginable (and a few inconceivable) with just a few key strokes. We didn't know what came next.

Anyway, they make Mass Effect dolls now and I see a Shepard and a Miranda Lawson as well as a Tali. I doubt you can take their tops off especially not the Quarian. I guess you can still make kissy noises and such...or just watch the sex scenes from the games. I betcha Wrex gets the most action.

Because promotional stuff like that just isn't worth it when they aren't anachronistic. More eye-catching, you know?

I think I remember Jeff/Vinny talking about how rad it would be if Collector's Edition stuff would come with some kind of functional statue that did that kind of stuff over NFC. This seems like a step in that direction, and I don't think that's a bad thing, to be honest - it'd be a cool way for the industry to move.

I'm not fucking buying 20$ toys so I can get a fucking weapon in my game. This is just stupid.

Once I found out that Quarians aren't a selectable race in the Co-op, my interest plummeted. Besides, I already have enough plastic videogame crap littering my house.
