The Collector's are back and they are pissed...

Prepare to face off against the Collector Praetorian, Scion, Abomination, Trooper, and Captain. Reports have also come in that Cerberus has enlisted the Dragoon to their ranks and the Geth are deploying new Drones to the battlefield.

16!!! New classes including the Turian Ghost, Turian Havoc, Batarian Brawler, Korgan Shaman and more. The Six base game maps are now updated with hazards including Sandstorm, Whiteout, Lightening and more. Three new Collector weapons, the Collector Assault Rifle, SMG and Sniper. 5 new kits and a brand new challenge system rewarding players who take the time to complete them.

I know the past multiplayer DLCs have been free, but is this? This seems like a big overhaul.

Same I haven't play ME3 MP in weeks but after today's patch and this announcement, I'm gonna play all weekend and save my credits.

Saw the news this morning and it looks pretty awesome I've been away from the multiplayer since they introduced the N7 classes but this will make me go back for sure... also fuck Pretorians I hope they make them as tough as they were in ME2.

I'm in the same boat as most of you, haven't played in weeks. Too bad this isn't what multiplayer was when it was first introduced as I'm sure the populations is dwindling, but I'm sure this will bring people back, if only for a little while.

@DrFlapjack: I tried to follow the patches and user feedback even after I'd tagged out of actually playing, and it seems like they've maintained some steady numbers. Their bi-weekly challenges keep getting accomplished by the community, and none of them would've been especially easy for a small group of players to benchmark.

The community they've got now is super-impassioned, I'll say that much. Bioware does weekly balance updates based on data they're getting from the community. Almost like a live-fire trial and error testing.

A lot of the community has been dying for this update. The Collector faction info was leaked a few weeks back, and truth-be-told, probably wouldn't have been enough to lure significant numbers back to the multiplayer. But these new carrot on a stick challenges might just do the trick.

They should release the multi for free, get people playing and buying the packs.

This makes me want to jump into the multiplayer. I have to purchase it for PlayStation 3 though. I'm not throwing down fifty dollars for multiplayer on Xbox Live.

I haven't touched the multiplayer for a couple of months now. More than a good reason to grab my friends and hop back in. I have to give Bioware credit for supporting the MP as much as they have. Guess having the DLC subsidized by people that spend money on packs is working out for them (no complaints here).

I was actually thinking how great that works out. Even though I don't like how you randomly get items - the fact that I can just get access to new maps, new classes and new weapons all completely free is awesome. I remember when I used to play Call of Duty a lot it was a bummer when you didn't have one of the map packs and forced your entire group of friends to play on the old maps with you.

Fucking awesome, I really enjoyed the MP and this is amazing content. You'd think they'd start locking them and selling them right? Nope, new races, classes, spin off classes, weapons and levels...all for free.
 
Is this EA? I can't believe it. But I do love it.

Playable Volus are also coming, as seen in the data-mined patch released a few days ago. Also a minigun.

Haven't played the ME 3 mp in a while but this new DLC will get me back in. Been missing it anyway. The micros must be doing great for them to keep pumping this stuff out for free. All good though for those of us who love this mp.

Other than a few small complaints, this DLC looks awesome. Challenges will keep me in this game much longer

There are actually 4 Volus. Adept and Vanguard are there too.

Is this going to feature on the Wii U version? ...Haven't even played it yet.

I can't wait when they retcon the rest of ME2 and bring back the Collectors in the Omega DLC. I'm also not a fan of the fact that they made a big deal about making the multiplayer "canonical" and then putting in volus biotics, but hell, at least it's nuts.

Still, looks like a massive patch. They really should just release the ME3 multiplayer for free after ME3 as a game dies, which should be by the end of the year.

Aw shit. I read this, started up ME3 and played five or so rounds and the first Spectre box I purchased gave me an N7 class. Looks like I'm stuck again. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIND TIME FOR BOTH THIS AND XCOM

By the way guys, in case you weren't quite aware of if that picture is legit or not, turns out it is 100% real. All of those files come from the Bioware Social Network themselves.

Also, in case you were thinking "WTF 4 Volus classes at once!?", nope. Only 4 classes will be available at launch, with the other 12 rolling out slowly but surely. Who knows, we might not even get one Volus at launch.

Man, they must be making a ton of money to keep supporting this. Which is cool, ME3 mp was awesome (though I've been away from it for months)

@N7: I believe the four launching with the DLC are Havoc, Ghost, Shaman and Huntress.

The only thing that has kept me from playing again is that I would constantly get kicked because of my N7 level being too "low." Other than that, I might get back into it with the Volus being playable characters.

@mrpandaman: The new ranking system will make that a thing of the past, never understood why people kick others for a low N7...

Crazy how much they are supporting this. I thought the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer would end up being some throw away thing. I love it though and even though I end up not playing for a while I always end up coming back to it. They must be making all kinds of money to be releasing these multiplayer packs and this one more than the others for free. When I get pissed off on the 9th because my XCOM squad got wiped out I will be checking this out.

Then why weren't they present during the crux of the war? This is a weak-ass explanation, oozing with lazy writing. ME2's getting retconned mercilessly and this is a good example of it.

They were off doing other things. It says in the Codex even that Collectors are still up and about doing their own thing. Shepard wiped out their base, not their species. Remember James Vega talking about taking down a Collector Ship? There's more than one. More than two.

I got in a match this weekend with a Volus Adept. I followed him around just to hear him talk. Loving it!
