Mass Effect 3
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Mar 06, 2012
When Earth begins to fall in an ancient cycle of destruction, Commander Shepard must unite the forces of the galaxy to stop the Reapers in the final chapter of the original Mass Effect trilogy.
So multiplayer in ME3 might be a thing...
Kind of completely goes against what Bioware said just a month ago. Mass Effect 3 details - no multiplayer [Eurogamer April 8, 2011]
After reading those articles and the comments, I'm not sure I'm convinced... But that may just be wishful thinking. I hope there's not! Save that crap for a spin-off or something! I want to be able to S-rank ME3 and I have ZERO interest in multiplayer stuff (that isn't Rock Band).

@Ghostin: Friendly reminder, this is the same site that said ME3 was coming out June 3rd. Couldn't even pay enough attention to the press conference to get the right release date.
I highly doubt this news. Despite BioWare making Mass Effect more and more like a shooter, I don't think they're gonna put multiplayer in the game. It'd be a complete waste of development time imo. No one would want to play ME3 multiplayer and that time is better spend on meaningful things.
This has been a thing since EA announced all it's games in 2011 would have both Multiplayer and DLC, and then again in Jan/Feb when Bioware threw up a job listing for someone with MP experience on PS3/360. It's not a thing for ME3, it's for the one that comes after.
I don't think EA quite get it, and I think Bioware need to man up and stop letting EA push them around and tell them no.
Multi-player is precisely what Mass Effect doesn't need.
It already has a garuanteed wide-scale purchase appeal so why ruin the formula by adding the anti-formula into the mix.
People need to stop freaking out when they said they wouldn't do it.
If it is true then just play the single player like you were going to and forget it exists.
Plenty of games said "exploring multi-player options" to see if it works like what they said for God of War 2 but ultimately that game was single player only. If this is true then we'd have heard more about it seeing as how this article was published a week ago.
I have to trust what they said in April and that there would be no multiplayer in Mass Effect 3, however that does not stop them from producing a game set in the Mass Effect universe that has multiplayer. Setting an RTS in the Halo universe is one such example of producing a game in a new and different genre than the original. I still wish Epic had made that Gears of Golf game. Outside of the rampant rumors, this list of confirmed features in Mass Effect 3 has "no multiplayer" listed. This could all change, but the out right lie to the fanbase would be something they would have to explain.
More weight being added to there being multiplayer of sorts. This says it'll be co-op based.

Competitive = Not interested.
Coop = could be very cool to have a squad of friends playing.
i don't get why people freak out about this kind of thing. oh yeah i do... its the internet

Eurogamer, today...
This has been a thing since EA announced all it's games in 2011 would have both Multiplayer and DLC, and then again in Jan/Feb when Bioware threw up a job listing for someone with MP experience on PS3/360. It's not a thing for ME3, it's for the one that comes after.This. If they are working on Multiplayer for Mass Effect, it's not gonna be for Mass Effect 3.
Oh well, they might as well just do it, turn it into that Gears Effect game they seem to want it to become.
Competitive = Not interested. Coop = could be very cool to have a squad of friends playing. i don't get why people freak out about this kind of thing. oh yeah i do... its the internetMy first thought was drop In, drop out of the single campaign. But then I wouldn't want some random person online to totally wreck my experience. Plus I can't imagine it would fun for anyone to sit through another players dialogue & cutscenes. However, one benefit I see if I had a buddy take over control of a squad member is playing on Insanity, and not having your squad die because of poor AI. As for this horde mode (stated in the article) although seems more likely path the developers would take. I guess you could play as regular soldiers in the midst of the Reaper attack on Earth (that sort of thing). But still.. to me, horde mode feels out of place in a ME game. I think it's similar to how Jeff felt about Zombie Mode in Call of Duty.
On a side note: For the Mass Effect MMO to come out, it would probably depend heavily on the success of KOTOR.
People are really over-reacting to this, its pretty silly. If it is true than it'll probably be like dead space, there will be a mostly decent multiplayer experience that most people won't really bother with much because of the excellent single player experience.
I'd like to see a co-op mode with pre generated characters... not sure it would work in a campaign mode, but something like Resident Evil's Mercenary mode (but purely co-op) would be interesting... They could add in all the past squad mates as playable characters and you could play horde mode or some other co-operative focused modes, maybe add in a co-op leveling scheme letting you unlock better skills and weapons for the various characters.
