Spoilers-what happens to all the alien military forces?

#1 Posted by Marlowefire (154 posts) -

Te ending spoilers threads are whiny and such

I wanted to know what happens with all those alien military folks who are hanging out in earths orbit. The turians

#2 Posted by Marlowefire (154 posts) -

Whoops. Mobile wont let me edit.

The turians salarians krogren geth etc who came to fight on earth and above earth are basically stranded no matter which ending you choose. Now with no way to get back to their homeworlds their societies are left without a military and all of those people will never be able to go home and see their families.

That's something no one else is really touching on. All endin choices screw every single one of those alien races on a personal level.

That's like inviting some friends over to my house which is 3 states away to help me solve a problem and then just leaving them stranded without transport in my front yard. Selfish Shepard.

I still like my ending though.

@Marlowefire
Some can go back to an extent.
The standard FTL drives can do about 12 light years a day.
It will still take years but they will be able to reach the closer inhabited clusters.
(obviously with stops for resuplies)

But those further then halfway around the galaxy?
Only the Asari would live long enough.

Salarians are pretty much screwed.

Quarians are in their flotila with liveships anyway.
They just miss out on their new homeworld for 1 or 2 generations.

As long as I don't have to use the same drinking fountain/bathrooms/restaurants etc. as them I don't care where they go.

some of them could set up communities on earth, i mean its got the room now that a couple billion humans have been killed and harvested.

the asari and krogan could probably make it home on their ships provided they had the food. salarians would probably opt to stay on earth i'd imagine? quarians are screwed since their homeplanet is pretty much on the opposite side of the galaxy

i remember the asari matriarch on illium talked about the asari potentially building their own mass relays but was turned down. this implies that they have to knowledge to make them (probably learned from that prothean beacon they had hidden on thessia). so i guess they could slowly rebuild the relay network back up.

I figure they need people on Earth anyway, a good chunk of the population is dead.

No, the bigger concern is that the Turians would have to live off the Quarian liveships' food supplies, since we dont have any dextro-amino compatible food. Starvation would be a big concern.

Good replies. I'm feeling a little better except for the starvation issue. I hasn't even considered that. Shepard really should've given some people a heads up for sure. The quarians no longer exist in my universe so I guess that isn't an issue for my shepard.

This sounds ripe for some fan fiction.....gather your homosexual writing skills and you word processors and get cracking!

If the Quarian's have enough space, they could probably host the Turians on their Liveships, stopping by any appropriate systems they can for food and whatnot on their way home. I mean, they've spent decades as a space-bound species; I would think that they would eventually get home (though they would probably have to head to Palaven first). Krogan and Asari could make the trip if they had food as well. Salarian's are seemingly screwed until the Asari can Macgyver up some Relay-like technology. Any remaining Human colonies are on their own, as well as other species' colonies. I'm not sure on how the Volus, Batarians and Elcor would do.

You forget that the Turians and Krogan do not bring females to war. So eventually they'll die out from being unable to reproduce - unless they somehow brought vats and cloning technology with them.

Everyone except the Asari cannot eat Earth food. Quarians didn't bring their Live Ships along so I think they can't eat as well.

On top of that, the Omega mercs are now in Sol space - which means they'll need policing. What's stopping them from committing rampant crimes?

The thing is that mass Relays are only point to point in terms of instant travel. In other words from one relay to another pre set relay.
this means that you would first need to move a relay to it's position in another cluster via standard FTL.

Krogan can manage to make it to their home planet  using standard FTL long before they die out. it's very close to Sol. It will only take them a few years at most to get there.
Turians, will likewise make it, but in about 10 or so years. So they can also reproduce.
Only short lived species like Vorcha or Quarians will be either dead or too old by the time they get home with normal FTL

Everyone except the Asari cannot eat Earth food.

Krogan can for sure eat human food. Krogan can even eat humans :P Earth food may taste like shit to them, but meat is meat. They consume proteins and other basic food groups.
You only need to supply Turians and  Quarians with specialist food as far as i can remember on the Normandy.
Only the T&Q are ever mentioned in codexes as unable to eat human food due to their biology.

Quarians didn't bring their Live Ships along so I think they can't eat as well.

Qarians do bring their liveships. At least they do in my game, as can be seen in the Quarian Civilian fleet description.

On top of that, the Omega mercs are now in Sol space - which means they'll need policing. What's stopping them from committing rampant crimes?

Massive military fleets of all the other species.

Food can essentially be mass foraged on compatible planets along the way home.
It will strentch out the trip some, but solve any starvation problems.

So if you fanfic Hepler's work does that cause a divide by zero error?

@White: well turians bring females into combat. didnt you talk to garrus in ME2 where he talked about sparing with a turian chick then banging her afterwards? they just never showed any in gamecus they never made the model lol.

also i like to think hackett was smart enough to use the omega mercs as "operation human shield"

also, mars had a fairly large colony on it, pretty sure they were evacuated but the colony was probably largely unscathed since they all probably bugged out asap once earth got hit.

And also all the ground forces. Unless they have a negative IQ score, they aren't doing squat.

I prefer to just pretend the last 5 minutes of this game never happened. Substitute in whatever you feel is most appropriate.

But yeah, people are fucked, generally speaking. Too many people in the Sol system, not enough resources. Colonies are stranded with no supplies, mass war and starvation follows. Nice job breaking it, Hero.
