When Earth falls in an ancient cycle of destruction, Commander Shepard must unite the forces of the galaxy to stop the Reapers in the final chapter of the Mass Effect trilogy.
Trust me, they had to pay to get it into the game.
Hilarious that it is a stock photo.
"Since the original release of Neverwinter Nights, several in-game portraits have been modified in patches due to their having been copied from outside sources. In another instance, the Canadian Red Cross complained to BioWare about the appearance of the Red Cross symbol on the in-game item "Healer's Kit", as part of a long-running attempt to discourage misuse of the symbol. This resulted in the Red Cross symbol being removed from the Healer's Kit through patches."

Hey no problem, they can just retcon it in some DLC!

@SlightConfuse: The issue is that Bioware put zero thought into a central character in the series. To dangle something in front of people the idea that Quarian's wear masks constantly, and then never show those people what they look like is bad enough, but something like this makes it look like it was a zero hour decision.
@DrDarkStryfe: i highly doubt it was as half assed as people are saying, im sure they had an idea of what she looked likefrom the beginning, i see no difference between this and hiring a model likeness for her. They did the dame thing for male his in game model is really close to the real life one.
@Drakoji: i have not played the game yet, maybe there is one?

So not only do they reveal a masked characters looks, they didn't even put any thought or effort into it. Let's just make the lady in this stock photo purple and give her glowing eyes and a weird hand. Instant Tali.
Trust me, they had to pay to get it into the game.

About £100, if the link isn't lying. It meant they could spend money on more important things, like Jessica Chobot, launching copies into trees and pc gamepad support.

@SlightConfuse: The big deal is that as a designer it is very bad to use assets that aren't your own. It's stealing even if you pay for them. At least that's what most designers would tell you.
@Vegetable_Side_Dish: Oh wait. I did that wrong. I thought hahafire was the guy who did the image for some reason and was then confused when nothing was there. Ha. My bad!

Saddest part is that there is tons of Tali fanart out there that do a much better job of making her look alien without being ugly, yet they just went with shopping a picture of some random model.

I would Disagree stock photos and textures from CG textures and other similer sites are used all the time in game devolpment, Its definatly not stealing if they pay for it I mean come on now.
While I quite frankly don't give a damn about talis mug, an ingame reveal of her taking her mask off and showing her face would of been alot more effective than a photo, stock image or not, although that would of required more work from different people modeling, rigging and animating.
Or maybe they should of saved time, money and the tears of fans and not bothered at all with her face.

Yeah I already raged about this on another forum, man Bioware. I mean didn't expect anything amazing with Tali's required reveal at long last, but for them to be so blatantly lazy with it, not even making it part of the game proper urgh. And after listening to the bombcast sounds like I should be getting ready to be disappointed by ME3 for a number of other reasons too. Fucking hell.

I'm conflicted. On one hand it seems completely lazy. Instead of actually modeling her face in game, they took a stock photograph, photoshopped it, and stuck it on a random in-game object. All the time they spent on every other female in the game (what was the budget on Miranda's ass? And who picked out Ashley's sexy lingerie?) and you're telling me they couldn't model one face? I call bullshit. I think keeping it a secret would've been better than this.
On the other hand, it's ultimately not that big of a deal considering Bioware themselves don't seem to place too much importance in that scene.

@SomeDeliCook: Does that make it original? Because they shifted a few trees around?
Didn't say it was original. I said it isn't the same exact picture. They atleast made a different picture instead of just applying effects like the Tali pic.
As an amateur photographer who sells photos on Getty Images, it is fantastic to see them using material from stockphoto shops. As a gamer I am really appalled that Tali has such a human face and that makes it seem like they are really lazy. If this was Ashley's photo, it would be perfectly fine.

@Vegetable_Side_Dish: The art on the planet is different, as are the trees and shit. It's probable that they took 'inspiration' from it, but they didn't just copy paste.

It seems like I am the first to come in and say that I think this is fake (at least directly). But hey, I haven't played the game yet so I could be wrong.
