I recently heard that the PC version of ME1 didn't have Windows Live Achievements, but that the game instead uses its own system in game. And someone mentioned that on the PC version when you got some of these Achievements they came with bonuses instead of a stupid score, is this right? if so what kind of bonuses did you receive?

Sounds pretty interesting if its true, and sound a hell of a lot more useful than the useless points i got from playing it on the 360.

Edit: Just saw i forgot the "PC" part in the headline, oh well.

From a walkthrough I was reading on gamefaqs a couple of days ago (working on some of the ME1 achievements right now) unlocking the achievements brings minor bonuses to your character like Take 3% less damage or do 5% more damage and little things like that. I assume they are active in the 360 version as well considering the guide I was reading was listed in the 360 tab, maybe not though, hell if I know or care. Most of them are so minor I couldn't see them effecting gameplay much.

Hrm, i dont recall getting any bonuses from Achievements on the 360 version, and i pretty much unlocked all of them. Maybe i just don't remember any more, i haven't played it in over a year or so.

But you got to admit if you care or not, that getting a minor stat bonus, is more useful than getting 10GS points.

A few more noticable ones are that if you use a certain weapon or ability a lot during your playthrough, your subsequent characters will be given an option to use those abilities/weapons, even if they're normally unavailable for your class.

@pornstorestiffi: Useful in the game sure, but I like achievements so I consider 10 points more useful in the long run of things.

Here is the link to the guide I was using, how it words the "unlocks" it makes sense (still, unsure if they are or not just pointing out it makes sense) that the 360 version has all those subtle passive bonuses. It shows the "unlock" on the corresponding achievement.

Yes, it's the same bonuses as in the xbox version. You didn't notice those? "Rich" unlocked spectre weapons for all subsequent playthorughs, and "Krogan ally" gave you health regen.

Well what do you know, your right. Went to xbox.com to look at my achievements and Extreme Power Gamer is indeed for hitting level 60. See i don't recall jack poop from this game anymore.

I didn't buy the last DLC either, i did buy the first one though and was very disappointed in it. I would love to play ME2 on a PC, but sadly my Mac wont cut it. But i have been thinking about making a Windows based PC in these last couple of weeks.

Well, I did build me a PC, the reason I'm changing platform mid-trilogy, so to speak. (Also, they didn't have simultanious release on ME1). I can of course not advise you in matters of personal economy, but I find that I much prefer playing games on my PC. Generally, there are more options, and of course better visuals.
