Humanity is still a newcomer on the futuristic galactic stage, and it's up to the charismatic Commander Shepard to investigate the actions of a rogue agent while under threat from a dangerous synthetic race known as the Geth.
Bring Down the Sky is fairly short (2-3 hours max, probably closer to 1-2 hours for most people) but is a decent story add-on if you have nothing better to buy.
Pinnacle Station is longer, but extremely boring (it's just a lot of combat, which does not play to Mass Effect's strengths) and I would recommend it only if you are a completionist.
I have both of them, and why I won't recommend them is because: a) They offer no benifits in ME2 b) They aren't that interesting.
They are very cut and dry. the only real benefits are the bonus XP and the reward items. The ending to Bringing down the sky is interesting, but I doubt it will continue in ME2. Pinnicle station is just an EXP farm, more like a death match arena.
I love Mass Effect, but even I think the DLC was poorly done. Bring Down the Sky has some story elements to it (although Bioware did not list the choices made in that DLC being carried over to ME2), but Pinnacle Station is just awful due to its lack of story and huge focus on combat.
Skip both of them unless you really enjoy the combat in Mass Effect.
