    An increidlbly immersive game 0

Mass Effect is probably the one of if not, the best RPG ever. It has a few minor issues, like lack of save points, and  a poor exploration vehicle, but everyone makes mistakes. This is probably the best looking game to date. The graphics are all incredibly  realistic, and the voice acting is top notch. Every single line of dialog your character says is voice acted, The action takes place in real time, but note this game is not shooter. You need to play it as an RPG, or else you will die. You get...

What can I say about Mass Effect? It's truly brilliant! 0

The basic story behind Mass Effect is that you are Commander John Shepard and you lead a team from different races (Human, Asari, Salarian, Turian etc). You and your team are in race against time to stop a rogue Spectre called Saren, he has a army of these creatures called Geth at his command and you have to stop before he finds a way to destory the universe and all that lives. In Mass Effect there are several key points that i will go through, firstly when you are in converation with another ...

    An Amazing Game 0

In my opinion Mass Effect is a must buy game for anyone with an XBox 360 or at least anyone who likes or enjoys RPG's. Mass Effect  is built on a foundation of a great story and apart from the main storyline and missions the game gives you plenty of hours of side missions.  Your character is put into a huge world where there is a rogue agent that threatens the world and all beings are fighting for the respect of each other.   You play as a character named Commander Shepard. An interesting part o...

Quite possibly the greatest game ever. 1

It has been a long time since  a game has managed to capture me quite the same way that Mass Effect has. The atmosphere, dialogue and polish the game has really immerse the player in the game's "world".However, long loading times and the Unreal 3 Engine's problems bring this down from perfect. Hopefully the sequels address this....

A great RPG but with an average combat mechanism 0

Note: Read prequel book (Mass Effect: Revelations) by Drew Karpyshyn and enjoyed it, a good read. You might want to get it to have a good understanding of the ME Universe, species and key characters. That, in turn, got me to buying Drew's other books, Star Wars: Darth Bane which is one great book and I just got the newly published Darth Bane: Rule of Two, he's got me hooked. Where are you KOTOR 3 and please no MMO!!! Back to Mass Effect...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~What was GIANT~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

    New Sci-Fi Epic... 0

Bioware's Mass Effect does a tremendous job of putting the player front and center in a new sci-fi universe.  There are issues with this game technically but it's story and characters are first rate.I cannot remember a movie in recent times that has such a rich universe, all credit to Bioware for really putting a lot of effort into this it is clear they really enjoyed making the game.Positives;- Great story, engaging combat, good character development, good graphics, top rate voice acting. Almost Perfect 0

Bioware has succeeded in creating an amazing and groundbreaking game, and started a new franchise off on a very strong note.StoryThe story is epic. Like you must single-handedly save the universe from total annihilation epic. The real-time cutscenes are some of the best in any game. The conversation system feels much more streamlined than the typical dialogue tree found in most RPGs. You pick an abbreviated statement that sums up the tone of the response or question. The universe is really flesh...

A taste of good things to come!! 0

More than a game, Mass Effect is an experience. Upon playing this game it suddenly dawned on me that while I was having fun playing it, as I would any normal game, I was actually getting involved in a whole other level.  Mass Effect challenges your imagination to a point where you actually believe that you’ve been to these places and met these characters, who exist in this parallel dream world. Achieving this level of immersion is only possible if the game has compelling and extensive writing, a...

    One great epic 0

Mass effect to me is what would happen if gears of war and KOTOR somehow mated and had a video game baby. Seriously though this game is one of the best rpgs of 2007. The voice acting and conversations really keep you into the game. The answers are somewhat easily chosen since there are neutral, good, and negative answers. The graphics are great as the sci-fi theme is shown with characters bright constumes and bright armor that shines. The environment looks great and really gives you the sense th...

Mass Effect is one of the best Role-Playing Games on the Xbox 360 0

Mass Effect is the new game from the company, Bioware. Bioware is responsible for games such as NeverWinter Nights or Star Wars Knights of the old Republic. Now Bioware has released Mass Effect, Bioware's first next gen game.Mass Effect's story is interesting and immersive. You play as Commander Shepard, with a past and military backround of the players choosing. The Story of Mass Effect revolves around Commander Shepard, and a turian named Saren. Saren is a turian, an alien race, and he wants t...

Mass Effect is one of those games that can easily be misconstrude as pretentious. It can be easily dismissed by KOTOR fans who are annoyed this wasn't kotor 2. Casual gamers can get intimidated by the vast sprawling deep of galactic exploration....at least until someone gets them to sit down with the game for 30 minutes.Mass Effect...well, affects you. It gets under your skin in that all engrossing way that happens with titles this good. It'll remind you of the first time you called in sick to w...

Mass Effect is a pretty good game... 0

Mass Effect is an action-RPG set in the distant alien rich future in which you play the role of Commander Shepard, an officer for the Systems Alliance Navy....As in most RPG's before you start the game you are asked to create a character...Now you can either create a generic character if you want to jump in the game right away,or you can take the longer route and build your character for the ground up...You can choose to be male or female, and from there you pick your class...Your classes range f...

OverviewMass Effect is a RPG and Third-Person Shooter for the Xbox 360 and PC. It is designed by Bioware and distributed by Microsoft. Its setting is around 150 years in the future in the Milky Way galaxy. It also consists of vehicular combat and team based fighting. StoryMass Effect's story is pretty good. Without giving away to many spoilers I will describe the story to you. You are always Commander Shepard no matter what sex you choose, male or female. You can change your first name but it do...

'Virtual orgasmic rape' of the hype machine. Or not. 0

Let’s get this out of the way first – Bioware’s latest game was hyped up like nobody’s business. Early builds from the creators of RPG-heavy Knights of the Old Republic showed a surprisingly complex character whose responses to NPCs determined their future interactions with him or her, a solid over-the-shoulder combat shooter, as well as some pretty damn fine graphics. Luckily for everyone just waiting for another reason to buy a 360, it turns out that pretty much everything hinted at by preview...

    Massive Fun 0

Let's just get this out of the way now: Mass Effect lives up to the countless cliché names it has received since its release. Whether it is "Massively Awesome," or "Massively Effective," it is an experience that everyone should have. If it could be mandatory for a game to be mandatory -- Mass Effect should be it. That's a lot to say about a game, and though it may seem that it is a flawless piece of work, it's not – but it's damn close. For the most part though, Mass Effect brings some serious c...

Over rated, over hyped, generic 2

Mass Effect is a sci-fi action RPG from the folks who made "Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic" and it shows. You are a special operative, above the law, trying to save the galaxy.   The story is this games greatest asset. the universe is well thought out and kind of even seems plausibe as a real future somtimes, based on all the real world tech jammed in. My only story complaint is the lead male voice (never tried being the girl). Mark Meer, the voice of Shepard, delivers a bland and lif...

A milestone in demonstrating the persuasive power of hype 0

There is an awful lot which can be said of Bioware's latest RPG offering, Mass Effect. For the most part, it is a very ambitious title screaming of artistic inspiration, but it also harbors a huge list of problems and cut-corners. Both in terms of technical performance and design, development seems to have been expedited. while leaving behind countless traces of either a lack of time or effort. A seemingly very ambitious creation appears to have been castrated into nothing better than average by...

Mass Effect: Pros vs. Cons 0

Pros:1. Story. The main reason this game is so amazing.2. Voice Acting.  With names like Seth Green and Keith David, no wonder the people sound amazing.3. Customization. You can customize pretty much anything on your character.4. Graphics. Truly is next gen graphics.5. Characters. Each individual is interesting.6. The look of it. Looks very futuristic and very artistic.7. Length. Mass Effect is long but that's good, you want a game that will keep you going.8. Game play. Overall it's an RPG but a...

An almost perfect modern RPG 0

Mass Effect is the newest game from Bioware, the usually space RPG game but this has more of a shooter twist to it. I love this game, it is a very accessible RPG game because of its heavy usage of guns, there are magic type abilities and tech abilities, which works very well and keeps the game fresh with new attacks. There will always be a party following you which is now pretty standard stuff for a stat based RPG. Ok, the plot for this game is simple but makes for compelling gameplay. Witho...

A game that will knock your block off in story telling! 0

Bioware has hit a home run with its Space Age RPG called, Mass Effect. A politically charged Storyline with Real time Combat, this is probably going to end up in everyones christmas stockings this year. Story starts you out as a Space Marine, a member of the alliance military, The main quest is very good, but it is pretty bad in the way its pretty short, but thats only if you concentrate on the main quest, and not do the side quests, there are a good number of side quests you can embark on whic...

Mass Effect is the newest "pick-a-path" game from the people who almost built that style of game mechanic, BioWare, and while the exterior of the Mass Effect house may look pretty, it isn't really standing on the sturdiest of foundations. The game has you playing as "Fill-In-The-Blank" Shepard. A customizable character that can be male or female with a couple of different options that affect his/her back story. Customizing characters is pretty easy due to the fact that you can really only chang...

    Fantastic Story 0

Finished Mass Effect a month or two ago, and I really liked it. The graphics and story were impressive. The combat was OK, i think my problem was that I was trying to play it a shooter (Mass Effect is the first RPG I've played) so it felt cumbersome to avoid incoming fire and get to cover. Once I understood the skills I could get my character and team mates to use it made a whole lot more sense! The fact that weapons can only have one upgrade at a time is something that needs to be made a bit mor...

Mass Effect is a third person RPG (Role Playing Game) /shooter set in space, 200 years into the future.  The player becomes a character named Commander Shepard.  At the beginning of Mass Effect, the player customizes Commander Shepard to be how he or she seems fit.  The player can pick what background the Commander came from and can also pick what type of skills the Commander will have in battle.  Mass Effect also features a huge amount of character customization.  The player can change Shepard’...

I bought Mass Effect solely because I wanted to play a good RPG on the xbox 360. It surpassed my expectations far into another galaxy. Mass Effect is an adventure worth playing through as you become immersed into the story and characters. The story grips onto you and and takes through a hell of a ride that can only be experienced on the Xbox 360. I hear that Mass Effect 2 might become a cross platform title and if it does then hooray for Bioware because more people should enjoy this phenomenal title. Intergalactic travel too long? Just play Mass Effect! 0

Mass Effect is a pretty difficult game to score because there are something’s about the game that seem inexcusable in terms of it’s overall polish and even flaws within the inherent design itself, but there are some things about the game that other games try to do what Mass Effect does but either never really exploits or achieve it, and in itself you may be thinking just like me of the question; “What made that game so great?” First off Mass Effect was made by Bioware. Bioware has typically done...

Note- this is my first reviewGameplay:To describe mass effect's gameplay in a nutshell would be foolish. There are great, and slightly less great aspects to this section. One major part of the game is the way in which the player can interact with conversations going on in the game. The player is faced with a 3 main choices as to what their character is going to say. One gives paragon points for nicer responses and the other gives renegade points for not sonice responses. The third will give a mi...

If you like shooters and/or RPGs and have not played this game you are probably also a little slow.. Mass Effect is one of the most fun and interesting games to come out in a long time. It might take some people a little while to get into this game, it starts off a little slow, but once you do it is epic. Redefines the meaning of the genre and interactive media 0

With it's powerful narrative and high degree of interactivity between the player and the world, BioWare's role-playing games have always had a special meaning to the genre. They have managed to carve out a special niche for themselves which distinguishes them from every other RPG you might come across. The developer who made a name for themselves with Baldur's Gate and the Star Wars based Knights of the Old Republic have repeatedly built up on their forte's and the result has never been more evi...

One Of The Best Games On 360 3

Mass Effect, while a terrific game in its own right, strikes me as something of a prototype for Bioware - a studio which has become synonymous with hardcore RPG gaming since the telephone-directory sized instruction book that came with Baldur's Gate. For a start it's an action-RPG, only the second one Bioware has made, and it's set in a brand new IP.  The Mass Effect universe is both deep and believable - which is no mean feat when you pause to consider that it relies heavily on faster-than-ligh...

Mass Effect has been out for awhile now and its popularity and success are deserved but perhaps a re-appraisal of its content is needed.  With two sequels announced, one of which is on the horizon and statements from Bioware indicating that their "cinematic feel" will become a staple of future projects, it is time to look at Mass Effect with a more critical eye.I should start off by saying the game was fun and I played through it both on pc and xbox360.  It has game mechanics that are easy to pi...

A Few Minor Flaws Keep It From Perfection 0

There's an epidemic going around. It's symptoms are readily recognizable: clothing made of iron, weapons made of steel and wood, haughty elves, drunken dwarves, prophencies being fulfilled and, of course, severe dragons. I'm talking about the epidemic that seems to be sweeping the game industry that forces all RPGs, be they MMO or single-player, to take place in a post-Tolkien (sometimes even within Tolkien) fantasy setting. For those who prefer lasers over crossbows, plasteel over regular ol' s...

Mass Effect, great story, fantastic game play 0

I beat mass Effect in the course of 1 week, and regardless of rushing through a great game, it was an amazing ride, the story was captivating and invigorating, a great appeal to keep on playing. The game has a fantastic sex appeal to it, playing part dating sim when you enter into a torn decision between two women with a very suggestive love scene. Other than that, you have your standard Knights of the Old Republic good guy bad guy ranking system with a hell of a combat system. The First person ...

Yeah, I know I'm late to the party reviewing this game...RPG's aren't my favorite genre to begin with, so I held out playing this for a while. Bioware, famous for developing some of the better RPG's on the market like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, launched a new Sci-fi IP in 2007 known as Mass Effect. The results are a sweeping storyline, fascinating characters and a deep third person experience that blurs the lines between shooters and RPG's.  As I've hinted before, RPG games are one...
