Fail dude, you spelled Chief wrong.

#3 Posted by Caje (138 posts) -

Does it really matter that much? Wouldn't he be in the suit most of the time?

#4 Posted by marbig (90 posts) -

I'm not really for an Halo movie, but what about Samuel L Jackson playing the chief? As long as he got to swear often.

How about Arnie? The chief doesnt have to say much anyway, and they can just put the voice in later. But when you think about it that way it could be just about anyone (except a midget, not sure a midget could pull off a 7ft super soldier.....)

How about Christian Bale?

#7 Posted by Duffman (208 posts) -

I think they should go the Darth Vader route and have someone who fits the build be in the suit and then have a voice actor do the actual, erm, voice.  Because I'm sure it would be easier to get one guy who's very tall do acting and one guy who's not so tall do the voice work.  But I'm just assuming there.

Steve Buschemi

I agree with this.

They could get anyone to act it out they just need to get the voice guy from the game to speak....

#12 Posted by TimeWaffle (944 posts) -

why not just get Steve Downes  who did the voice in the games

#13 Posted by General (54 posts) -

Any one 7 feet tall to fit a suit like what he has. They won't even show the face.

#14 Posted by stillmotion (80 posts) -

I'd be down with Bale.

Viggo Mortensen!

Steven Seagal.

Honestly it doesn't matter who does the voice (probably the guy from the games), a collection of stunt men would just end up doing all his scenes

Shaq

Steve Downes, because he was the voice in the Halo series and its not like you'll see them anyway they'll be in a suit the whole time.

Eddy murphy. Hes perfect for a hyped movie that ends up sucking.

lol
if you wanted chief to be a more "vocal" character this would be the way to go.

TBQH, I think the Rock has the right voice for this...

Dear heaven, what am I saying?

#24 Posted by Systech (4078 posts) -

They should have a tall body builder and the original Chief voice of Steve Downes. The most realistic choice would be to pull a Vader.

Yeh it doesnt matter unless there is a final moment he takes of the hemlet or something.

In that case, probably bruce willis or something.

Danny DeVito

No one. Keep the voice of Steve Downes and don't show his face.

Which I guess is half the problem with that movie, it's hard to relate to character when you cant see their face.

that would be the only thing to make Master Chief an actual good character. Honestly though..anyone could if you go by what you get in the games...hes just in a suit the whole time, and says like 3 words.  I feel like this though, so many movies based on video games either go off the entire wrong track and suck hard, try to be the same and still suck hard, or they reveal something you don't want to know. I would just wait for something dumb to happen...I think Jeff summed it up on the "good old days" of the hotspot when he said "Watch , they'll have him remove his helmet..and halo fans everywhere will cry. And under the helmet will be..Paul Walker."
#34 Posted by Red (5994 posts) -

I could say the obvious Arnold Swcharzenegger or Chuck Norris, but I think that the perfect dude to play as Master Chief would be Steve Carell. "Master Chief, this is a hot zone, we have to pull out"

"That's what she-"

i like the Darth Vader style route; bloke in a suit, guy doing voice over

the voice is obviouse, Steve Downes, guy who did it in the game

but the suit? hmmmm....

get Jean-Claude Van Damme in the suit in a desperate attempt to re-launch his career

it could happen!

Is today retarded new 1 post user day or something?

Anyway, since we're back on the subject; Michael Ironside. Because fuck everything.

Today is second post five year new user day and I can guarantee I am not mentally deficient in anyway. Why not talk about this? You all know HALO is going to come back around in the production loop and somebody is going to do it. You can bet that 334 looks at blogs like this to ascertain what YOU want in a HALO film. Quit being so snide and actually put some info out there that they have to go on. Snide remarks go nowhere.

#46 Posted by MachoFantastico (4474 posts) -

Didn't we already settle this on the Bombcast.

I had no opinion on this five years ago but after seeing Dredd I could totally handle Karl Urban up in this business.

Nobody. There won't be a movie folks. Halo was hot inside of gaming only...and that as five years ago. The games are decent, but Halo is not in the wider public consciousness anymore. Microsoft will do its low budget little made for TV/XBO stuff, but even that will lose money. Halo is over as something to leverage outside of gaming.
