McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure is a platformer game developed by Treasure exclusively for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. It was Treasure's second game and was released shortly after their first, Gunstar Heroes. The game is licensed by the McDonald's fast food restaurant franchise and features its mascot character, Ronald McDonald, as the playable protagonist.

The game starts off with Ronald McDonald walking through the Magical Forest. Suddenly, he comes up to a big tree with a piece of paper under it. He discovers that it is a piece of a treasure map and wonders where the rest of the map is. He then finds out that the map has three pieces missing and three bad guys each have one of the pieces. Ronald now has to fight them and defeat them to get their pieces of the map. Ronald decides to follow the one piece of the map that he has and see where that takes him. The player must help Ronald fight his way through and get all the pieces of the map.

This game has three levels of difficulty (Beginner, Normal, and Expert) and four worlds each with several levels per piece. The levels include: a forest, a train (and the corresponding town it pulls into), a pirate ship, and outer space. The player receives passwords along the way so they can resume where they left off.

Ronald uses a scarf to hook onto things and pull himself up to a new platform, which sometimes leads to hidden items that will help him out a lot. He uses magic to make the bad guys disappear.

    Bosses

Ronald will fight four different bosses throughout the game. Each boss has the same exact weakness which are gems, problem is Ronald's health is measured in gems. To defeat each one the player has to let the boss absorb some of Ronald's health, allowing Ronald to hit him as many times as he can while the boss is stunned. The bosses have their own attack patterns and required strategies. After each boss, Ronald is awarded another piece of the treasure map to help his quest to get the treasure.

    Game Center

There is also a Game Center that can be accessed. It is similar to Tetris with boxes in straight lines or in "L" shapes. Line three identical blocks and win items. Skulls sometimes appear and must be avoided. It is game over when the whole game area is filled up with the blocks.
