Role: Support
Backstory
What he lacks in compassion for the sick, respect for human dignity, and any sort of verifiable formal training in medicine, the Medic more than makes up for with a bottomless supply of giant needles and a trembling enthusiasm for plunging them into exposed flesh. Raised in Stuttgart, Germany during an era when the Hippocratic oath had been downgraded to an optional Hippocratic suggestion, the Medic considers healing a generally unintended side effect of satisfying his own morbid curiosity.

Description
If the Medic happens to be alone or his healed friend happens to take one too many sniper rounds to the head, the Medic can comfortably fall back on the Syringe Gun for protection. This needle machine gun has a huge clip and reloads quickly, making it a reliable weapon in extended engagements. Unfortunately, the needles are about as accurate as if the Medic was throwing them so you must be very close to your opponent to kill them. They also have travel time which must be taken into account. The Sept. 15th update has buffed the Syringe gun, adding better health regeneration while it is equipped. A medic equipped with the Syringe gun now constantly regenerates health at 3hp/sec with the possibility of 6hp/sec if the medic does not take damage for a period of time.

Description
The Medigun is used to heal teammates and cannot be used offensively. It can heal allies past their maximum normal health total, up to 50% higher, but once the Medic stops healing them, these "overheal" points slowly dissipate.
An Ubercharge bar fills up in lower right corner of the screen while the Medic is healing his teammates, more so when healing allies that are not at full health. When it reaches full, the Medic shouts "I am charged" and the player can click the right mouse button or hit alt fire to activate an Ubercharge that makes him and his healing partner invincible for up to 10 seconds. If the bond between the two is broken during the charge or the Medic switches his gun, the Ubercharge will last for one more second before disappearing. The link can be reestablished if the Medic so desires. This ability to break and create links while the Ubercharge is going allows the Medic to make more than one teammate invincible, though doing so increases the speed at which the Ü-bar drains.

Description
The Bonesaw is a competent melee weapon, good for taking down fools who happen to get too close to a Medic without considering the consequences. The biggest difficulty with the Bonesaw is gaging when to take it out because most Medics will be healing their partner and may still need their assistance to keep from being overpowered. However, you definitely shouldn't hesitate to use it on any Spies you see as their knife poses a much more immediate threat than anyone else in front.

Unlockable Weapons
These are weapons that are unlocked by obtaining a certain amount of Medic achievements. The player is allowed to customise what weapons they carry through the loadout menu and can only carry one of each type of weapon at one time.
Description
The Blutsauger is the first weapon the Medic will unlock and has the special ability of healing its
user 3 points for each needle that strikes an opponent. The Sept. 15th update has altered the stats
on the Blutsauger. It is now able to fire critical hits as well as heal for 3hp with every hit.
The other modification is that now a medic with the Blutsauger equipped constantly regenerates
health at 1hp/sec which goes up to 3hp/sec if the medic does not take damage for a period of time. This is lower than the regeneration on the Syringe gun but is balanced by its ability to give the user 3hp with every shot. It is identical to the Syringe Gun otherwise.
Number of Achievements Required: 10
Description
The Kritzkrieg is the second weapon the Medic will unlock and changes the power of the Ubercharge from invincibility to guaranteed critical hits for its duration. This new power, while lethal, must be used more cautiously than the normal Uber because you and your partner will be taking normal damage during this time. If you aren't careful, you may get hit by too many errant shots and die, leaving your partner without the buff in hostile territory. All the same, Pyros and Demomen benefit from this ability enormously--Pyros from more or less instakill melee damage and Demomen because any bombs he launches during that time stay critical even after the Uber wears off.
The Kritzkrieg charges 25% faster than the Medigun and has exactly the same healing speed.
Number of Achievements Required: 16
Description
The Ubersaw is the third and final weapon the Medic will unlock and trades speed for Ubercharging capabilities. With each stab of the Ubersaw, the wielder's Ubercharge bar spikes up 25%. In four hits (if you land that many unspoiled attacks) a Medic that has done no healing will be at a full Ubercharge. This task is made more difficult by a 20% reduction in swinging speed. Given that even using a melee weapon as a non-combat oriented class is risky business, the Ubersaw should be used only in the most advantageous situations.
Rate of Fire: Slow (20% slower than the Bonesaw)
Number of Achievements Required: 22

Medic Update
The Medic update was a huge update for Team Fortress 2 that released 3 new weapon unlocks and 39 new achievements. The Medic update was the first class to be updated and information on it can be viewed here.
When the medic taunts with his medigun, he bows, though before that, the medic had another taunt which was taken off early, a joke on the device's resemblance to a bong. The medic would place his face into the medigun's barrel, take a deep breath, than he would look all dizzy.
UPDATE: As of a recent update, the Medic has officially received this taunt. Taunting with the Kritzkrieg equipped will activate the "missing taunt". It is the same animation as described above. It also heals the medic for 10hp while continuing to heal the patient.

The Medic is the primary healing class in the Team Fortress franchise.
Overview
The Medic is a character class in the Team Fortress franchise. Touting both a rapid-fire syringe gun and the Medigun, he can comfortably fill a support role as a fighter, though he is obviously more suited for healing his allies in combat. Medics tend to pair up with hardhitting characters such as the Heavy or the Pyro to allow the combo to push enemy forces back farther before dying or having to retreat. Though he rarely gets kills in his role as a healer, the Medic still gains points from assists he acquires from healing teammates who in turn kill enemies. He can also gain points simply from doing a lot of healing or activating ubercharges.Health: 150

Tactics/Tips
- Turn on "Medigun continues healing without holding down fire button." under Options -> Multiplayer -> Advanced. This will allow you to continue healing even when facing another direction, which is useful to check whether or not an enemy is following you while healing one of your teammates.
- Stay behind cover whilst healing someone. This will hinder your enemies that try to kill you, especially when you're healing a heavy, who is near invulnerable when they're being healed.
- On the same note, Heavies are prime targets for being healed, for that exact same reason. Heavies aren't too useful on their own, but with a medic they can wreak havoc in the battlefield.
- Don't be afraid to switch to your Syringe Gun/Blutsauger when in combat with no one to heal. At the least you'll be no worse off than had you just stuck with youur Medigun, and at best you'll go on rampage and end up with a huge killing streak. The Blutsauger is ideal, as returning some health (even the smallest amount) can turn the tides of battle.
- On CP maps, start healing someone as soon as you can. This will help build up your Ubercharge meter before the game actually starts, and will allow you to start the round off with a bang. If possible, get a Soldier or Demoman to rocket/sticky jump for you which will build the meter up quicker and also contribute to your "Total Healed" stat for achievements and such.
