A awesome soundtrack in a good game 0

The game that upgraded some parts of the first Mega Man, most considerably having a way for you to keep your progress. The soundtrack was absolutely amazing for it's time, took the world by storm. But I was still not that big on the gameplay, some dips on the frames and some almost unfair difficult sections, making the controls not look that awesome, being on the same year as Super Mario Bros 3....

Worth it for the music alone... wait the game's good, too?! 1

It's time for (as requested by a friend) my Megaman 2 Review!Hey, that rhymes! Anyways, hi there. As there are already a plethora of great Mega Man II reviews out there (Spoiler: It rocks... hence the name Rock Man! ... Am I trying too hard for a pun? Yeah, sorry about that.) so I'm not sure what else to say. But don't fret -- I'm sure I'll think of something! The year is 200X, a year that will go down in infamy, as the villanous villain, Dr. Wily, has created an army of killer robots to take ove...

Mega Man 2: Who Says Sequels Are Never As Good? 0

Well in our case here today, the sequel is the focal point of the franchise. I've said it before and I'm sure many fans of the series will agree with me: Mega Man 2 is hands-down the best installment of the "Classic" era. Let's find out why in what I'm sure will end up a huge review of one of the greatest platformers of all time: Mega Man 2. Once again, and I'm sure this will follow in all the Classic Mega Man reviews to come (at least until I get tired of it), I'll take you down the path of the...

An absolute classic, with a hardcore level of difficulty. 0

After the giant success Capcom had with Mega Man, they decided to make a sequel. For this game they would ramp up the difficulty, and make it even harder than the first game, coming out 2 years after the original Mega Man, Mega Man 2 looks a lot like the first game, but does it live up to expectations? The short answer to that is "Yes". Mega Man 2 gives us more of the same side-scrolling, hardcore platforming that we now expect from the series, while giving us a bunch of new robot masters to def...

A candidate for the "perfect video game" 0

It’s easy to forget that Mega Man was a revolutionary action platformer back when it made its debut in the mid ’80s. A robotic hero echoing Astro Boy who defeats rogue robots created by a mad scientist, Mega Man had the unusual ability to assimilate his enemy’s weapon. Each robot had a hidden weakness that Mega Man could exploit if he had the right one.  Filled with a solid mixture of jumping and shooting challenges, Mega Man appeared like a bolt of lightning out of a clear blue sky. Despite i...

Standing the Test of Time 0

Anybody who is anybody has played this game. Released in 1988, it's generally considered the first "real" Mega Man game... since it established in a strong way what the series would be all about. The story is simple. "In the year 200X, a super robot named Megaman was created. Dr. Light created Megaman to stop the evil desires of Dr. Wily. However, after his defeat, Dr. Wily created eight of his own robots to counter Megaman." In the first game, Megaman defeated Dr. Wily who had stolen a bunch o...

I wanna Rock n roll all night (and party everyday) 2

So there’s a long-standing debate amongst fanboys that care too much (like me) over which of Mega Man game stands at the top of the class of identical Mega Man games. The two forerunners include 1989’s Mega Man 2 and 1990’s Mega Man 3; two games from two entirely different decades; one representing the Reagan era, one representing Bush Sr’s tyranny. Now, there’s not much of a point in glorifying this battle of games that reuse the same danged Mega Man sprite (9’s the best one anyways) so lets ta...

    Mega Man 2 Review 1

For the first time easily in over seven years, I sat down today and completed Mega Man 2 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I had not played this game for a long time, since my NES days of sitting around the house when I was a kid, and playing Mega Man, with not a care in the world. Mega Man 2 was the sequel to the original Mega Man, also for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Mega Man was known for having some of the most difficult levels of any game on the console. It goes up on the diffic...

    Mega Man 2 Review 0

Not only is this the best Mega Man game ever, this quite possibly is one of the best 2-D platformers of all-time. This game took the then-unique premise of the 1987 game Mega Man and refined the formula. Outstanding music (oft-remixed at OverClocked Remix), great graphics, and one of the most memorable boss battles in 8-bit lore (don't tell me that you didn't freak out the first time you saw The Dragon), this masterpiece, even today (2009), stands the test of time. If you can't get the original ...

Learning from mistakes, polishing the edges, the making of a classic. 0

One measly year after the debut of Mega Man on video-games the sequel arrived. It was pretty clear that while the first game had great potential to establish a few ground rules when it came to the newly created series it came short on polish. The ideas were fresh and inventive, but the delivery was not. Everything came together with the release of Mega Man 2.It can be ultimately said that Mega Man 2 does everything better than the first. It holds a level os polish that wasn’t really found...
