A long-awaited third entry in the Mega Man Legends series, originally announced for the 3DS but later canceled.
Mega Man Legends 3 Is Dead
Fuck Capcom. Like seriously, fuck them.
LET'S CANCEL A PROJECT FANS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 10 FUCKING YEARS, THEN LET'S RERELASE RESIDENT EVIL 4 AGAIN, THEN RERELEASE DEAD RISING 2, THEN RERELEASE MVC3 AGAIN,
You DO NOT announce a sequel to a game that fans have been begging for for ages, build tons of hype, show off a demo that looks complete, have the fans actively involved in its creation, and then cancel it. That is INDEFENSIBLE. INEXCUSABLE.
I hope Capcom goes under. They don't know what the fuck they're doing anymore.
I've never played the Mega Man Legends series, despite hearing a lot about it. Apparently the PS1 games are in some kind of licensing hell due to logos and expired voice actor contracts so they can't be released on PSN. Capcom would have to be willing to do some kind of remake or rework so that probably isn't going to happen.
I was looking forward to this mostly due to the excitement level of 1up's Jeremy Parish, oh well.
Honestly, I'm glad this is dead. There is no way this was ever going to be good.
It really pains me to say that because I love me some Mega Man Legends, and the fact that Tron made her way into MvC3 made it seem like Capcom actually cared. That said, their plan of "getting the fans involved" always rubbed me the wrong way. Capcom tried to push it like they were pulling a Bastion and giving us an inside glimpse into the development of this game and letting us watch how things come together and help out in our own way, but it always felt like exactly what it was - a shrewd, slimy attempt by Capcom corporate to monitor just how many people actually gave a fuck about MML3 because they were willing to gamble on it, but not that much. Call me crazy, but I don't want to play some game I helped make, because I don't know shit about game design; I want an artist with a vision to make a game, and if it doesn't click with me, then fine, but at least it doesn't feel like some focus tested bullshit that speaks to me because demographics say it should. MML3 never had that feeling, and honestly that makes it death fine by me.
It's just a shame that there's now one less 3DS game I care about.
Canceling a flop before you go into full production on it is the perfect example of handling their shit properly.Capcom, once again proving they have no idea how to handle their shit.
I'm almost glad that they didn't go through with this. I think the worst thing they could have done was all the 'fan suggestion' stuff, because hardcore fans of a series rarely know what it is they actually like about a series, and usually when suggestions are taken, it's usually pretty bad. As much as I'd like to see a MML3, I'd rather not see one than see a horrible MML3.

Of course, if they could handle their shit properly it might not have come to that.
So Capcom has canned this. On top of that there's gonna be no Megaman Universe, no Monster Hunter Portable 3rd localization, no Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright localization and no future Sengoku Basara localizations.
Looks like Capcom and Nintendo of America should be best friends. They're both making the same stupid decisions.
Although I've never been a big fan of the Mega Man series beyond the first few, I have heard tons of people talking about this lately and I was really surprised to see it get cancelled! It always sucks to see a game get cancelled...
god dammit waiting forever for this game now this shit? why can't you stick you yor guns and balls infune and create something wed really want and i say alot of people petition to get this game created
What the hell is Capcom even doing these days then? I think they've stopped caring about fans AND the Western audience.
I loved the Mega Man Legends series when I was a kid, and was really looking forward to this...
'Tis a sad day today...
What the hell is Capcom's business plan these days, re-releases and tons of DLC? I have to assume Inafune left mainly because of the poor management at the company.
The last great original title they put out was Ghost Trick, back in January, which I loved to death. More things like that please!
No surprises. MML3, like Universe, was Inafune's baby. Capcom can tell us all they want that it wasn't related, but we know full well no one at Capcom but Inafune wanted anything to do with MM anymore at this point. I'm honestly surprised that this announcement wasn't day-and-date with Universe's cancellation.
Well I don't think they EVER really cared about Western audiences. Only person pounding that drum at Capcom was Inafune. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually got to the point where Capcom was just another retreating Japanese company soon. What the hell is Capcom even doing these days then? I think they've stopped caring about fans AND the Western audience.
Mega Man Universe and Legends were on my short list of must-buys. These were cancelled for one of two reasons:
- Capcom doesn't like money.
- Or the games suffered from a lack of focus after losing a core member of the design team, effectively turning them into cash sinks with no realistic chance of profitability.
It's impossible to say which of these explanations is truly behind this decision, but it's definitely the first one because that makes me feel better about my anger.
