So on Capcom Unity, they just announced that the planned Mega Man Legends 3 Project was canned. Bummer.
This makes me wonder about what Capcom has coming out...that is remotely interesting.

I was just about to make a thread. Can't say that I'm surprised after the Mega Man Universe treatment a while ago. Boo!
Well, I played the first game a while ago on the N64... not the best version, but still, kind of unfortunate that they can't get anything good going with Megaman lately.
If they cancelled it though, it was probably for good reasons.

What? Wasn't there a demo out though?Rumors abound say that the demo didn't get enough downloads, which was one of the reasons why the business men in their business suits decided to shut down the project.
The Prototype Version was never released on the North American eShop. Don't know about the Japanese eShop.
What a disappointment. Megaman needs a serious boost these days, and this cancellation isn't helping his case.

No Kenji no megamanThe Capcom Unity post specifically stated that Inafune's departure had nothing to do with the cancellation.
Of course they're going to say that. PR. I don't believe this one bit.
I kind of laughed when I read about this because this was the only game I was interested in for the eshop, oh well.
People have been known to write things that aren't true. Especially business people.@kingzetta said:

I'm sure Capcom had perfectly good business reasons for this and I can't blame them for making business decisions, but I am legitimately sad about this.
Mega Man Legends was a weirdly important game to me growing up and I was super excited that it was coming back. I wish it could have had a chance.
I'd prefer a Mega Man 11, but yeah, this does kind of put the future of the franchise into question. With this and Universe cancelled and Inafune gone... I'm nervous. Mega Man is one of my all time favorite video game franchises, I don't want it to end like this.@AuthenticM said:
Oh well. Maybe they'll finally get around to making Mega Man X9. :)
After this and the cancellation of Mega Man Universe, I think it'll be a long while before X9 sees the light of day.
Boooo.
Then again, I never liked the idea it was set for the 3DS, so...
That sounds like a lot of money Capcom has just flushed down the toilet by canceling both Universe and now Legends 3. Though, guess they figured those projects would cost them more to try and finish and sell than just scrapping it all.
What does this have to do with Nintendo? One less decent looking 3rd party game on the 3ds... I think they'll survive.Shit is looking bad for Nintendo.
Bad
you don't know what legends is do you? Your thinking of megaman 9@SuperfluousMoniker: Having a one-off sequel to Mega Man in the same NES style was cute... but a second time was stretching it. A third one? Hell. No.
But you know it's the only way Capcom will put out a new Mega Man game... minimal asset generation, maximum profit...
As long as the level design is good, I will continue playing Mega Man games until the end of time. Minimal asset generation maybe, but there's still a lot of effort going into creating new enemies, environments, bosses, etc and making it new, interesting and fun. Just because it's 8 bit style doesn't mean it comes out of nowhere.@SuperfluousMoniker: Having a one-off sequel to Mega Man in the same NES style was cute... but a second time was stretching it. This pissed me off- I actually imported the first two games for PSP. Here's a wallpaper to make us feel better: http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/mrangryface/all-images/52-553606/1311052277676/51-1842326/
Capcom continues to be awful, and I continue to not support Capcom.
"Hope ya like re-releases of games you already bought, because that's all we ever make anymore!!!"
Im kinda getting irked with fighting games and DLC- honestly if youre able to release characters that are solid contributions to the roster within the first year months of release F U- shoulda been in the game to begin with. Im lookin @ U Mortal Kombat.
Still- waiting for SSF4 AE PC was sooooo worth it.
I think its because they think that because we tend to buy a bunch of crap in mass quantities- and theyve suddenly become so bad at making games that sell in mass quantities in America, they need to avoid taking risks. Its a shame that one of the few publishers that appreciates its niche market (NiS) also feels the needs to ship panties with their games as pre-order bonuses. We cant win!
