Powered Up really is an understatement

Recently playing threw the fantastic Bionic Commando Rearmed game. It got me thinking of some other fantastic remakes I have played this this whole retro thing became big again. Some of the better ones I loved were the Prince of Persia for Live Arcade, and Castlevania Rondo of Blood. But no game has blown me away with so much more added to an already fantastic game.

I know most fans were turned away by its kiddie like stylization, but I actually found it quite charming and refreshing. And do not let that visual style fool you, this game is still brutal and when it comes to the bonus missions even more brutal. Which leads me to my next part of the review, all the extras and there are a lot. The most notable one is now you can play threw the story mode with all the boss characters alongside Mega Man and now even Roll and Proto Man. They have also added 2 new robot masters, Oil Man and Time Man. My biggest surprise is that all the robots are not just palette swaps with there power instead of the Mega Buster. They all really do feel and play a bit different from one another. For example, Cut Man has the ability to wall jump which you can get a secret item that no one else can reach. That is another thing that is big in this, the create your own stage. Not only can you finally build your own stages with pieces you have earned and collected, you can go online and download and play other fans creations as well as uploading your own creation. Another thing added is the Mission modes, and this is where even the most die hard Mega Man fans will be humbled and belittled. They are brutal and there are many of them, I believe it was around 100 of them. This game also changes up the classic gameplay of MM games by adding 3 difficulties now, so even the more moderate players can finally pass a MM game which never was an easy task.

Overall you get a ton for what you pay for. The gameplay is still fantastic as it ever was so there is no worrys there. This is without a doubt the best remake of any game I have ever played. 5/5 hands down a must buy for PSP owners. It is a shame that it didn't sell so well though, it would have been awesome to see a Powered Up 2 based on MM2 the best of the classic titles.

      Fun, challenging gameplay + level editor = must-own. 0

NOTE: This review was written by me years ago, but it's never been posted on GB, so enjoy!***************You probably noticed already, but Capcom has been revisiting many of their classic games lately and updating them for the current generation. Capcom has put more effort into some remakes more than others, but so far they have been generally good. However, the one game that has arguably been given the most attention and care is Mega Man Powered Up, which is a complete--and I mean COMPLETE--rem...
