What was memory loss now again?

Memory Loss or "Amnesia" is a term used when a character in a game loses all recollection themselves and their past. In video games, it's usually the protagonist who losses his memory in a vehicle crash, by magic, a brutal beating, etc...

Developers use this writing crutch to explain who the character really is throughout the story without having to use a lot of exposition up front. So pretty much you'll be going around settling problems with the world, quests, and other side activities, and either your memory comes back piece-meal or an event triggers full recollection.
