I like this game.
Before Metal Gear Acid 2 I had never played a card battle game. But, as a fan of Snake both young and old, I decided to give this franchise’s card-battle off-shoot a shot. Thankfully, Acid 2 was easy to learn, fun, and addictive.
For those new to the genre, like myself, the game’s tutorials were a godsend. They were short, simple and effectively conveyed the importance of and how to use each card type. The game also did a great job of gradually increasing the complexity of the controls and difficulty level. As a first timer, I was never over-whelmed.
The stages were well crafted. But, for a portable game, the majority of levels will take significant time to beat. Metal Gear is not conducive to quick gaming sessions; it is better suited for those times when your are stuck on the train, bus or plane.
When originally released in 2006 the game was packed with a 3D periscope viewing device. Do not fret if you can't find one. It was flimsy, made you look ridiculous and the 3D effect was about three Sigourney Weavers short of Avatar. Simply put, it was a gimmick.
I bought this game to kill some time on a flight from the mid-west to the south-east. The time flew (awesome pun intended). That is a sign of a good game. Metal Gear provided a welcomed escape from the holdrum reality of a 3 plus hour flight. I bought mine in 2006 at its full retail price. While it is not worth $39.99, you can find it on Amazon.com for about $15. Buy it. The game is fun, unique, and will likely never see another sequel.
PSP: $15 on Amazon.com. Beat: Yes. Play time: Over ten hours, maybe twenty.
