In 2014, war has become so routine that it is at the core of the global economy. A rapidly aging Solid Snake picks up his gun and embarks upon his final mission in this epic tale of tactical espionage action -- the conclusion to the Solid Snake saga.

Metal Gear solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is without a doubt the ultimate Metal Gear experience for any fan of the series and an absolute must have for any PS3 owners looking for a good game and a reason to justify their purchase of a PS3. It pretty much answers every question you had on its previous entries.

Metal Gear solid 4 has been completely re hauled in the gameplay department. It plays very different from it's predecessors. Although at the same time it's more accessible to western audiences. Gone are the Japanese controls like when you press O in the previous tittles it use to be the enter button, while the X button use to be the cancel button. Now the O button is then cancel button while the X button serves as then enter button as well as the crawl button.  The CQC button is now assigned to R1 which also, when pressed while holding L1,  serves as the firing button. You can reload your weapon by either firing your gun until your magazine runs out and snake automatically reloads or by pressing the O button which is new to the series. The triangle button  still serves as the action button. Which when your pressed up agains the wall let's you peek around corners. Also when you grab an enemy in CQC let's  you slid their throat. Another awesome, and most probably the coolest feature in the entire game is Snake's new camouflage suir known as Octocamo. Octamo is your best friend in this gmae as it let's you hide with ease and in real time as opposed to the camouflage system in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake eater. The way this suit works is by pressing up against a wall and it autonatically turns into the same color and texture which helps you hide even from enemies with infrared goggles. The suit also turns into the same color and texture as the floor you crawl on by simply laying still. Snake also has new moves like when you lie on the floor and press triangle he turns from his belly to his back. Also by slightly pressing forward he does a maneuver which looks like the worm from break dancing.

The game also has other cool features like instead of the cardboard box which we all know and love by now, while still present, is pretty much replaced by the new drum can. The drum can is a lot more useful then the cardboard box in the sense that it shields you better from bullet fire and thre fact that when your inside of it you can turn the can with you inside of it and roll towards the enemy lncking them out or scatering scarbas away,

As far as enemies go, yes there are still enemy soldiers, this time known as PMC soldiers. PMC stands for Peivate Military Companies which are working for the givernment. You'll also have to go through female soldiers known as FROGS which are basically LIquid Ocelot's private military. Aside from these two factors, you'll also have top face new Metal GEars known as Gekkos. Gekkos are pretty much a combination of Metal Gear Rex and Metal Gear Ray robots which you'll encounter around the second half of the game.

The story wraps up everything that was left up in question in the previous Metal Gear story lines From the original Metal GEar on the MSX down to Sons of Liberty. You'll encounter old favorite characters like Naomi hunter, Liquid Ocelot, and Otacon. Down to new ones like Olga Gurlokovich's daughter Sunny , to the weapons launderer known as Drebin,a dn his monkey sidekick called Little Grey. The story picks up after the events of The Big Shell in Sons of Liberty. But I can;t go into further details as there's a chance of the story being spoiled. But I can say that this is Snake's last mission, well as long as series creator Hideo Kojima doesn't pull a fast one on his fans as he is known for, and Snake is sent out to kill Liquid once and for all.

Graphics wise, well all I can say is that this is definitely one of the main reasons why you bought, will buy, pr will show off your Playstation 3 to your frineds. I mean these graphics are superb and really push the Playstation 3 hardware whcih creates outstanding and true HD 1080p graphics. The character models are definitely at the heart of this. The Snake model is incredibly detail as you can see the wrinkles on his face down to the fine stiching on his Octocamo suit.

All in all, as I stated before Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will leave you satisfied story wise if you're a hardcore Metal GEar fan and must know how everything ends. Gameplay wise if you're looking for something new and a reason to justify the cost of your Playstaion 3. This game is highly reccomendable.

MGS4 blurs the line between cinematography and gameplay. 0

Metal Gear Solid has always been praised (and sometimes bashed) by it's long cutscenes, movie-style cinematography and mind bending plot twists. Metal Gear Solid 4 continues this trend by not only reaching this goal, but by blasting it into hyper-space. But what hasn't been done well in a Metal Gear Solid game is a perfect control system, an in-depth and varied gameplay and intense action, to which Metal Gear Solid 4 not only improves upon these elements, but perfects them.Snake's final chapter ...

Metal Gear Solid is one of those single player experiences that anyone who calls themselves a gamer would be crazy to miss. Hideo Kojima has ended the tale of Solid Snake with an experience that can not be called anything other than epic. Given the story can at times seem a bit over the top it is so well presented it and a few movement / control shortcomings can easily be forgiven. This is single player experience any fan of the series ( or anyone new abet some brushing up on MGS history would b...
