As a huge Metal Gear fan I finished this rather quickly because I played this way too much so here I am. Does anyone want to know anything from an average joe who hasn't even been paid off or anything?

Who is that guy who looks like Otacon? 

Is it any good?

How was the advertising nonsense?  Controls?  UI interface?  And generally, was it a good story, even if it didn't progress the story, but rather just filled the gaps?

Much like Otacon, he is a scientist who does bad things and then joins you to help you stop the bad things. After the credits a line is dropped about him becoming a father and naming his son "Hal"

Some of the early reviews I'm reading state that this game is impossible to beat on your own, that you need co-op.  I'm not a huge co-op fan, and like to take on games by myself.  Is the game, in fact, impossible to beat on your own?

Its the autobot logo and its on my calf, and there are way more reasons for that on my leg than there is reasons to play on that stupid and outdated platform. "

I read a review (really wish I could remember the source) that stated that it would be immensely difficult to finish this game without the help of a friend. Is that true? Is this game really that heavily-geared towards co-op?
