I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to remember Keef's piss-poor voice work in Armitage III. To me, more than the fact that he's replacing the "real" voice of Snake, I just hope he doesn't deliver another bland, monotone performance. Not all actors make good voice actors.

The final main entry in the Metal Gear Solid series bridges the events between Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the original Metal Gear, as Big Boss wakes up from a nine-year coma in 1984 to rebuild his mercenary paradise.
Kiefer Sutherland Is Now Solid Snake
Man, I don't even like Kiefer Sutherland :-\
Remember guys, Kojima is insane.
No he's not. He's "Snake." Ostensibly Big Boss. Giant Bomb's awful knowledge and no respect for this series continues to get on my nerves.
Konami hyped this as "THE NEW VOICE OF SNAKE!" So get mad at Konami.
Well that's beacuse it is Snake, it's just not Solid Snake
While I also would like to see Hayter reprise his role, this is will not necessarily ruin the game. Wait until it comes out.
So if a young Solid Snake shows up in this game, what are the odds it's Hayter doing his voice still?
Zero, David Hayter would know by now if he had a job.
Just make movies already Kojima. It's painfully obvious that he wants to so he might as well get out of games all together. Not saying I'm opposed to another Metal Gear game. I'm just worried that making games more like movies is not going to push games forward in a positive way. It'll just make them more expensive to make which is already happening without big shot actor salaries.
People seriously like David Hayter as Snake? Does nobody remember what Old Snake sounded like? Hayter's depiction of an old man was so cheesy, Snake sounded like he fell out of some anime. At least this time, Snake has a chance of actually sounding like a grizzled soldier with Sutherland.
And also, David Hayter's tears are so delicious, mmmmm.....
OK, this is good news. I'm happy with this choice. I love David Hayter, but Kiefer Sutherland is a good replacement. I just hope he changes his voice up a little, if he just sounds like Kiefer Sutherland then all I'm gonna picture is Jack Bauer... Which may or may not be a good thing.

If he did had a job, do you think he would say? And if he kept quiet during all of this don't you think it would make it even more suspicious? He's totally doing a cameo.
The problem with this that it doesn't seem like an actor change due to advances/direction in MG ala Splinter Cell but a change just to get a big name they can show off in press releases/marketing etc.
Sure. I think Kiefer Sutherland could pull off old man Big Boss (not Solid Snake). Also, the Hayter stuff is obviously all part of the long con for when he shows up at the end of The Phantom Pain as a young Solid Snake.
I don't know about that. Phantom Pain takes place in 1984...and I think Solid Snake (and Liquid too) ought to be like 12 years old.
I don't tend to think that Kiefer can act, other than shouting "Damn it!" all the time. Hayter has a wider ability to act in my opinion so I kind of feel like this is a downgrade. Oh well, let's hope he can deliver.
Hayters gonna Hate
:D
@patrickklepek I see you've started to fix the error. If you're still unsure this is actually the snake in question here. I know it says big boss but he was called naked snake before that
Does this open the door for the long rumored Metal Gear Movie with Jack Bauer in the lead role???
DING DING DING

Metal gear doesn't take place over 24 hours, and it's already confirmed an 8 year period passes when big boss is in a coma, so what's to say more time couldn't pass during the phantom pain.
I'm actually really excited to see what Kiefer Sutherland brings to the table, it could be super awesome.
I'm suprisingly okay with this. I know Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss (aka Naked Snake), but that doesn't mean their voices would be exactly the same. I just hope Sutherland makes a voice that works for Snake and isn't just acting as his own voice.
As for Hayter, he was great and made the character much of who he is. His bitterness towards Kojima and the rest of the team seems super unprofessional and cry baby-ish. I mean you don't see Kevin Conroy throwing a fit everytime someone else voices Batman in media starring him.
So both of these characters are voiced by Kiefer Sutherland?
Either him playing Ishmael was a ruse. Or, Ishmael is a clone.
Those are the only two reasons I can think of.

Or MGS5 is Face/Off

Getting real tired of your shit, David !
This doesn't bother me at all, I haven't felt a emotional attachment to the character since msg2. A new voice can bring new life to the character I suppose :) I'm just glad that it's NOT Nolan North who is voicing snake , Kiefer Sutherland ? Hell yeah:) I'm more interested in Phantom Pain now:)
