Everybody speculated that it's Volgin, and it's pretty much confirmed now. An official toy of him came out and on top of the announcement accidentally saying it's Volgin.. come on now, it's clearly Volgin.

The flaming man from the first trailers(Spoilers)
@sagesebas: Volgin is the main villain of MGS3.
That figure looks awesome.
Man, people really want Volgin to be in this game.
I originally didn't think much about the flaming guy being him, but the patterns on the pants (of all things) match up. If fire stuff was all a dream, then Snake's probably hallucinating about him as he deals with past traumas.
Unless Volgin is Skull Face. Because again, people really want Volgin in this game.
If Cipher ends up trying to mess up Big Boss' psyche like that, and keeping in mind where Ground Zeroes' already went with Paz and Chico ... man, I really don't want to know what Kojima has in store for The Boss.
Though I am quite sure Volgin didn't actually survive Snake Eater; the episode depicted in the Moby Dick trailer made it pretty obvious that some sort of mind control a la Psycho Mantis was going on. Flying whales and all.
It seems strange that this surprise would be accidentally spoiled by showing figures at a convention. You would think Konami controls everything and knows what should be revealed and what should not before the game even comes out. This feels like a red herring or misdirection.
Given how much we knew about MGS3 and 4 before their respective releases, I'm gonna guess that Konami is gonna start rolling out a bunch plot info from now on. Major story beats are gonna be plot out by fans by the time the game is released.
Huh. Kinda surprised they'd put out a figure like that so far ahead of the release of the game. Or, at least show it online or whatever.
Volgin, though. Yup.

Yeah, especially considering it's clearly Volgin and they were trying to be deceptive about it in the trailer.
Oh, that guy. I hope you'll forgive me for forgetting about the blandest bad guy in vidoegames ever. And that's after Big Boss lost an eye to that fucker.
