Actually, given the conversation between Snake and Otacon at the end of MGS4, my assumption is that the next game will be about Snake, Otacon, and Sunny taking a VW Minibus on a road trip across the US, having adventures and solving mysteries along the way.

I thought Otacon's love interest/demise of said interest was so forced, and just didn't seem to fit at all.
At this point, who DOESN'T have a Metal Gear working for them. U.S. government, Marines, Russians, Private armies, Wal-mart 20XX, 7/11 (weekend shift). It's ridiculous what people will build when you publish blue prints on the internets!

Dude, I can see it now, Metal Gears will be mass produced in China and be on sale at Wal-Mart for a special low price!
