One of the coolest and most exciting puzzlers I've ever played. Outside of that Disney game, there was never a sequel; I would die if there was a 3DS release of Meteos with online play, but apparently it didn't sell very well (200k). Came out in 2005, and went mostly under the radar. I've started playing it again recently, and it's still so good.

I couldn't really find any good footage of it, so here's a guy playing it with a mouse on an emulator.

God I love this game. Did anybody else play this back when it came out on the DS? We should petition Bandai Namco for a sequel.

Fun fact: This game is from the same guys that did Lumines, which went on to much larger success.

Wasn't it released for the PSP or something? Or am I remembering something else?

The Disney one? Or a sequel? Meteos: Disney Magic came out on the DS. There was also a game on XBLA, but I imagine that game without a touchscreen is lacking (though I never played it, so I can't really say anything).

I'm not sure if it's technically a sequel, but there was Meteos Wars on XBLA.

Yeah, I remember it fondly. Although multiplayer was broken by the random swiping combos.

Meteos was a great game, and will forever be my favorite puzzle game for one reason: Every time you defeat a planet in Meteos, billions of people die in a horrible, giant, fiery explosion. It's possibly the most killingest game ever made.

I had it, but ended up selling it to a friend, which I still occasionally regret.

While I probably wouldn't pay $40 or whatever for a sequel, I would definitely like to play it again. Maybe an eShop port/sequel would be nice.

Bought it when it came out, loved the crap out of it. Lost it somewhere, forgot about it. Fast forward a few years, my dad, who doesn't give a rat's ass about piracy, bought R4 cards for pretty much the whole family (himself, me, my brother and sister). Instead of downloading the entire DS library onto a micro SD and laughing my way to handheld gaming heaven, I just torrented Meteos...and nothing else. I'm bad at being a pirate.

@melvargh: I've played the Xbox 360 version. It's absolutely lacking. Meteos is 100% a touchscreen game. It'd probably be great on a mobile phone.

I actually dug my DS Lite out from my junk drawer the other day, and played some Meteos. I probably played more in that sitting than I did overall with the 360 version.

I still have my copy. Now I feel like playing it again. For PSP perhaps your are thinking Lumines? Also an awesome game.

Yeah sure do. I wish they'd make a new 3DS version I could download. There's some kind of clone on the iOS app store, but I didn't really like it.
