Metro 2033 is a post-apocalyptic first-person-shooter, set in the underground community built in the ruins of a Russian municipal train system, based on the best-selling novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky.
Even though I only played the 360 version, I can't say I enjoyed the game a lot, it was competent but was frustrating. Right now I'm hooked on Fallout: New Vegas so I'm not doubling up on an okay shooter.
Good thing I didn't buy this game until now. For me the game is $13 and if it was for $20, I would of said okay. Even if the game sucks, at least it's nice to play a game with this much graphics, for the pc version.
I don't really get the bad reviews for the game, maybe the 360 version is what they played or maybe it has been patched and some things have been altered but two of the most common complaints (in reviews) are:
- Poor gunplay - Poor AI
I've not had an issue with either, the AI is nothing special, but AI in most games is nothing special. So I don't see the big deal, had no bugs or anything that's made me think the AI is bad, just seems standard.
The gunplay is great, I don't get the hate for it. I think it's really precise and has a lot of weight to it, kinda suits this game as it's very gritty.
I don't think you can go wrong for $13, it's more interesting than your typical 'Afghanistan clone' FPS campaign. Hopefully the sequel will be even better!
