Starting today up to December 16th you can get a free copy of Metro 2033 (for PC) by liking THQ's Metro Last Light page on Facebook. I have no idea if the code is redeemable through Steam, instructions simply ask you to download an .exe-file and enter the code through that. I already have the game on Steam, so haven't tried it myself, but thought I'd let you all know about it here.

EDIT: According to Gamespot and user @deano546 you can redeem the code through Steam.

It would be awesome marketing if THQ acknowledged the fake and actually gave out Metro codes.

The key I got from this works with steam (I got a "Product already owned.").

hmm... the facebook thingy ask you to download and install something (plus their app ask for a lot of information), i think i'll wait on this to see what happens to other people... that and i already own the game, but free is free...

It's legit, although I already own like 4 copies of Metro 2033....

Can confirm for legit. I'd be willing to bet the EXE is just an option for people who don't have Steam, whomever that might be. Direct 2 Drive games used to have a similar thing.

The code it gives doesn't seem to work with Steam, says it's invalid? Supposedly I install outside of Steam with an installer... can someone PM me a Steam code if they have a spare?

Hmm maybe, I'm in the UK so maybe we're supposed to install a different way (they provide a link to a 70MB exe to put the code in and download the game files) but I'd much rather just use Steam.

I just tried it out and it currently downloading.

You dont need to run the .exe, but you do need to allow the Facebook app before the code is revealed.

That code can be entered into STEAM.

True, true. Still I always prefer suspending accounts then deleting them.

So my problem was that I tried to redeem a code on Steampowered, you have to do it through the Steam application.

At this point THQ needs a game to save them. Maybe this will get people talking and buying Last Light when it comes out. Good on them!

Man, THQ are really giving it everything they have right now to pull out of this mess. Hope it all works out for them.

I don't like anything on facebook due to its crappy advertising nature, so in turn, I cannot support this, sorry THQ. Plus I already bought the humblebundle for a decent amount of money. To anyone that does I guess it is a hell of a deal. Metro is kind of eastern european, but it is pretty awesome as far as atmosphere goes.

I already own it and it's a great game but so buggy. I could never finish it because the game just crashes when I go through a certain door at one point and no amount of reloading fixes.  It crashes every time.  
Such a shame, it's a cool game otherwise.
