Metro 2033 Wishlist

I just finished this game on PC, and I really enjoyed it.  However, it's not perfect, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so.   What would you add / change?
The thing that immediately comes to my mind is the save system.  Autosaves are great, but I wish I could create my own save files - I really want to play through "Frontline" without losing all progress in later levels!

Better shooting.

I really enjoyed everything about this game. I do with it could come with a little more polish, but since it's an eastern block game, you pretty much have to expect some bugs to rear their ugly head from time to time.

Better gameplay. I liked the game, but actually playing it was not fun, I feel the same about Cryostasis.

The sequel needs to be optimized. Either that or it needs to let players customize specific visual settings. I exceed Metro's recommended specs and yet I constantly stutter. If it let me tweak one or two things, I could fix that easily.

better save system and better communication to the player aboutt the structure of the levels. or just do not forceload the player into the next level.
I lost a hellovalot of ammo since the game decided i had done what was needed on a level and loaded the next level not allowing me to go back and retrieve the ammo I had planned on getting once I had cleared all the bandits.
