    Best Trilogy on Wii :)

Ok, 2 of the 3 games were Gamecube but they have been updated to work with the Wii controls. And the Wii controls for MP3 (Metroid Prime 3: Corruption) were the best FPS controls the Wii has ever seen.  So, if you have never played these games (WTF?), buying this compilation is an absolute no-brainer. Go buy it right now. Unless, of course, you are not sick of playing party/mini games on the Wii.

Seriously, for the uninitiated, the Metroid Prime trilogy is made up of two awesome games and one good one (MP2). MP1 and MP3 are action, adventures at their very best. MP2 (Echoes) was a very polished and deep game but suffered a bit from a atmosphere that was dark/dull and some misplaced difficulty issues but its still a very good game.

For the rest of you, who have played some/all of the Prime series, the question of wether to buy or not is a matter of how much you played the original, and how big a fan you are. I am a huge fan and have completed 2 of them more than once. I never finished MP2 but I got through most of it.

So, what are the differences for the Wii? One great thing is that the games are full wide screen and look better for it. I think you will notice an overall improvement in the fidelity but mostly its just nice to have them at full wide-screen. Due  to the fact that Wii usese the same graphic hardware as the Gamecube (look it up before you rant), even the original Metroid Prime looks better than most Wii games comming out today.

The other main difference is the Wii control scheme has retrofitted to the first two Metroid Prime games. On the plus side, the controls are very good and well tuned. Having all three use the same controls give the whole series a more cohesive feel. The only real negative is that Wii controls for long game sessions with this type of game are a bit tiring. Having to hit the "-" button for each vision mode and hit the "1" button for the map is just not as comfortable as with the very comfortable GC controller. Sadly this negative is inherent to all Wii games that use more than 4 buttons.

But despite this the pointing controls for shooting are excellent and give the game a slightly more intuitive feel for gamers who could never get used to the CGs controls. But you still have lock-on so its really not that much different.  So the controls feel great given what I know to be the   worst ergonomically designed controller in recent history.

So, the games themselves are what make this compilation great. For less than the price of most Wii games, you will get 3 of the best games you can play on the Wii on a single disc. For true fans who may want to play through the games again, the new controls are solid and will give the game a fresh feel. But best of all, they will look and sound just a little better which may make them the definitive versions.

The only other negative, is they felt the need to replace each games "into song/menu" with a single/new one which is no way near as good. The opening menu and music played when you pop in MP1 was one of the best menu/music I had even seed and starting up the game without this just feels wrong.  But that's just nit picking I suppose and at least the music is included in the bonus section. They also added the bonus and friend sharing stuff with MP1 and 2 which is nice but not worth that much since who really games online with the Wii.

    PLUS:

+ One low price, two awesome games and one good one
    + Full Wide Screen
    + Slightly improved Graphic/Sound fidelity
    + Trilogy feels more consistent

    MINUS:
    - Three great menu systems replaced with one boring one
    - Wii buttons being uncomfortable is more noticeable in this type of game

    OTHER:
    - They should have included a CD with all the music to make this edition truely special. Other than the metal box, there is really nothy "Collector" about this edition

BOTTOM LINE:  Everyone who has not played these games, go buy this. For those who have, but want to play them again, go for it.

Other reviews for Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii)

You kind of maybe probably should get this. 0

A compilation like this gets a perfect score practically by default, since all three games sit comfortably as some of the best games on their respective consoles. You have what is personally my Best Video Game Ever, Metroid Prime, coupled with its relentless sequel, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and the Wii installment that capped off this trilogy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Metroid Prime: Trilogy is a lot of game. To be more specific, this is a lot of quality game. Time hasn't done much to dilute ...

One of the best gaming deals ever 0

Words usually used to describe the Metroid Prime Trilogy: masterpiece, perfect, even ABC called it the "Citizen Kane" of gaming. Well now imagine them all being on one disc, well it's no dream anymore with Metroid Prime Trilogy.  I'm probably going to describe the new things added then going into deep detail about all 3 games, I could probably write a 20 page essay on all three games.  The new things added to this awesome package is, of course, Wii controller support for the 2 Gamecube games, wh...
