I liked how Tomb Raider looked. But it seemed rather linear. The game also seemed to be playing you a lot. Maybe the final product will be a little more open with some clever puzzles.
The smart glass would be cool if I owned all those devices. I doubt my flip phone will work, haha. In the end, all I got from it was that everything is better with Kinect.

E3 2012 - Microsoft Press Conference Discussion
Halo 4 was really the only thing that I found compelling, it actually looked great. It's been so long since I last played a Halo game, and I'm totally burnt out on Call of Duty. Halo has it's own brand of zany arcade fun that I honestly kind of miss nowadays.
I just checked the additions on Major Nelson's blog. There were only 3 or 4 that applied to Canada, and none of them were interesting. If you're in the rest of the world that isn't a Spanish speaking country, it doesn't look much better@Grimluck343: if you don't live in america it was. the tv stuff wont even apply to us.

I agree, I was initially under the impression that it was an open-world game. Can't judge entirely at this point; maybe it is open-world, but they also have scripted sequences like that for story 'missions'. Or maybe it'll be like Alan Wake, where the game is strictly linear, but gives you a bit of breathing room along the way and makes the path you're following look a lot more open than it is.

Take this as a lesson: never watch conferences. All the good bits show up on on the internet within hours, why waste your time?
Halo 4 looks way more interesting than I thought it would. I'm a fan of the series too. Can't wait to play that one.
Chatting with other gamers and making fun of stupid press conferences is not a waste of time.
I definitely was pleasantly surprised. I thought there was going to be even less stuff in the press conference game-wise than there was. But The Tomb Raider footage was cool, Black Ops II looked ok. And am I think only one who wants to know wtf the "Matter" game is. I'm personally excited for 24 hour live ESPN, and NHL. I missed a lot of the season this year of hockey because of my limited access to games that I care about. But I do agree that the conference was pretty bland overall.
Halo 4 looked pretty cool. I've heard a lot of people comparing it to Metroid Prime, and I don't see how that could be a bad thing. Here's to hoping it works out.
Other than that, I didn't care about a single thing. Dance Central being the unannounced AAA title got me a lot more upset than it should've.
Also, I was genuinely interested for a little bit that Black Ops 2 was going to be drastically (or even remotely) different. Seeing that it looked like every other CoD game means I'm not touching it. Skipped all of 'em post MW2, don't see a reason for this to be an exception.
My excitement level was low through the entire conference, I guess I was just bored because it was not atrocious or bad, it was just mediocre for me. And what the hell was up with all the sports n' shit? Nike? Really? I was a bit disappointed at the end too, I thought they were going to show GTA V, and then it was just Black ops 2, obviously... It looks alright though, but no thanks. Forza and Halo 4 looks good too, but right now I'm really excited for the multiplatform games and of course Skyrim's Dawnguard, hopefully I get into the beta this week.
Yeah, we'll see. But it did look good. There's no denying that.@Claude said:

EA has had the best conference the last 2 years. They just get straight to games and not just the action setpieces either
Because that's all they have, they're a game company.
The expansion of Kinect voice controls to other languages (Dashboard) and especially dialects (as mentioned in the FIFA section) has me excited for the future applications of the technology. Not for gaming, necessarily, but I think voice control of electronics is a pretty cool idea when it works. Making it work for more people is a good thing.
Halo 4, Tomb Raider, and Splinter Cell all looked cool. I'm also calling the new CoD game Call of Duty Future Black Ops Soldier since it appears to be fore futuristic than Ghost Recon.
I also think that since we expect and GTA V DLC to be a timed exclusive to the 360, we can forget about hearing about GTA V at E3 this year. Ididn't expect it to begin with, but it sees a lot of people did. Hope I'm wrong, but I think Rockstar will do their won thing to announce a spring 2013 release.

It was fine, I use my xbox for things other than games so the whole smartglass, new media apps and IE integration is great. Who was really expecting it to be non-stop games? Only someone living in a hole would expect that, Microsoft has a few 1st party titles but the biggest games are 3rd party ones like Blops and FIFA which they showed.
Totally agree. I think the smart glass stuff is a logical next step and has potential for the next gen (at the same time in my opinion makes some of Wii U appeal completely obsolete). People who still think E3 and press confences are ONLY about games are delusional. I would actually been disappointed if MS showed a ton of games, cause that means next gen is coming later. Focus on multimedia 3rd party, and future integration between devices are the most logical moves for MS as a market leader at the end of the console cycle. Hopefully they got a bunch of cool game for next xbox for next e3.
That being said the shit show that was Usher can not be unseen, I want that 5 min of my life back.
Halo 4 looks amazing, glad there are new enemies and graphics are back to being top tier. Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, RE6 and that southpark game look great also and I'm probably gonna pick all of them up. Also complaining to ref via voice command is fucking genius for FIFA like my GAWD that is the best use of voice command I have seen. (the other voice command stuff seem ok, but most of them can be done by a press of a button but if it works it will be pretty cool)
Give it B-, would have been B if it wasn't for Usher

Nintendo's pre-E3 conference yesterday was better than Microsoft's actual E3 conference.
Halo 4 looked alright and RE6 looked pretty cool, everything else was cringe worthy.
That goofy video about the guy fighting the zombie boss may go down as the best thing from this E3.

They don't ship Halo or Gears outside of the US?
Smart glass looked like it could be pretty cool but other than that I saw nothing to tempt me to buy a 360.

Oh, no doubt. Despite the added confusion of what it is, I'm now much more interested to find out. The gunplay left me a little disappointed, though. I was at first expecting it to primarily revolve around pure survival in the wilderness with some set-pieces sprinkled here & there. But otherwise, it looks puuurty good.
People need to gain some perspective here. Firstly, this is a TRADE SHOW. While it is a great chance to show off stuff to your consumers the shareholders of these companies are watching every move they make this affects their stock which affects their bottom line. Overall Microsoft had a fantastic showing. It was balanced with a bit of something for everyone. Which is another thing people need to get into their heads NOT EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE FOR YOU. Overall, huge success for Microsoft. Halo 4 was a showstopper.

It was bad and they should feel bad. Usher...why?
I used to have a little bit of respect for the guy.
He was the only good thing from that horrid Superbowl halftime show with the Black Eyed Peas.
He does this stuff for a living: singing while dancing in front of large crowds with special effects...and here he is with his voice cracking, out of breath, forgetting lyrics, and making an already uncomfortable game announcement look hokey as hell...
And what the heck was with that screaming at the end? Dude, unless you hit all those notes perfectly, don't try to show off.
Microsoft honestly didn't seem bothered. I'm not one of those who purposely want to bitch about a conference, after all I want to be entertained by exciting announcements but Microsoft seem to be clutching at straws throughout. A lot of the stuff they announced only affects American 360 users which I found strange. Don't get me wrong, they've done that it the past but so much time was dedicated to it. Looking slim on games against but that's the norm.
Only bright spots were Tomb Raider, Halo 4 and Forza which looked solid enough. Black Ops 2 is what it is. Other then that a very obvious transition conference. One thing I will say is that I hate the way Microsoft do their press conferences, such a tacky feel to them. Not an hard stretch to say that both Sony and especially Nintendo should do better. Can't really see Nintendo losing this E3 as there is barely any competition. Sony should have some interesting games on show with The Last of Us and that new Beyond game which could be awesome.
Tomb Raider was most impressive. Splinter Cell was AssCreed good, I liked the Kinect integration. Oh, and I can finally watch porn with Kinect. Forza looked interesting. I might look at Nike+ again. Otherwise, the chat was more fun.
The cheesiest moment was how "Rich" I was supposed to feel when I could pull up a description of a Halo spaceship on my tablet. YEAH! AWESOME! I AM RIIIICH! A nice ding at WiiU, though.
Oh and "SmartAss"? Really? That is pretty bad name. SmartGlass... its like a bad wine, just wilts the tongue and sounds like a Corning product. Terrible, terrrible name.
@truthbringer9000: All stuff we already knew about. I don't consider more forza (5) more gears (4) and more halo (4) to be exciting. Are those games I'll play? I've no idea really. I am excited to see what People Can Fly do with Gears, but other than that? I don't think they set the bar that high. Just depends on what kind of games you want from your console.
Last Guardian being one example, could be more interesting to me.
Also the idea that the majority of the presentation should be ignored in favour of the few things which were enjoyable.. seems ridiculous to me. If you watch the whole show you take it all in as a whole.
That's just my opinion though, we will have to agree to disagree on that point. If you're super excited for those games than I can see how it would have worked better for you.
@Demoskinos: I think Internet Explorer for 360 is for exactly nobody though.
Nothing truly revolutionary. Nothing that excited me. Nothing that made me want to run to the nearest 360.
I think all Sony has to do to beat this is show up. rofl

Yup. It wasn't a great show by any means but the amount of bitching and snark in the chat was annoying as hell. "Hey I'm gonna shit on everything I see cause that's awesome right you guys? Right?"
Exactly, even the mods are staying stupid shit in the chat. I honestly don't know why half this site is here, they hate everything.

The amount of stupid commentary was proportionate to boringness. Someone with a better knowledge of statistics than I can probably derive an index relating the frequency of word "dick" to inverse of fan interest.
They really should have given up after SmartGass. Everything that came after that was dead and buried.
E3 brings in a ton of people that wouldn't normally be in the chat. So, I don't think it's necessarily a completely accurate portrayal of the site.@TheSouthernDandy said:

I would say it was just pretty typical. The ESPN stuff I'm sure will do well for them. As for most of the other aps and Nike +....
I should probably say what I thought about the conference -
It was pretty.. 'eh'
But Matt and Trey being on there was amazingly awesome and the South Park game looks amazing so I forgive Microsoft.
Does anyone happen to know what the name of that fantastic jam is which played just before the conference started, and also here and there throughout? Was that something licensed or just some random stock bit? (Either way I'd love to get my hands.. or preferably my ears.. all over it.)
2009 - Halo, Gears. Forza, CoD and Natal
2010 - Halo, Gears, Forza, CoD and Kinect
2011 - Halo, Gears, Forza, CoD and Kinect
2012 - Halo, Gears, Forza, CoD and Kinect
We should hope that Sony and Nintendo stay in business for a long time otherwise we will see and play these games until the end of time.
Very disappointed with yesterdays conference by Microsoft. I had hoped that the rumours of Alan Wake 2 and Motorcross Madness were true but neither got shown (unless they were during the few minutes I was away to eat, I missed the Gears of War and Forza trailers). A lot of time spent on multimedia and teasers with no substance to back any of it up. Very disappointed with how Halo 4 is looking as well (visually its impressive but Cortana and the updates Master Chief seems to have gotten whilst what I assume will be the middle of nowhere given the end of Halo 3, does not make sense to me).
A lot of hype going in and ended up being disappointed with what was shown in the end. A lot more of the same and nothing new, very little going on from first party studios it seems (where were Rare, and also where was GTA 5 or any other games for that matter). Hopefully Microsoft will pick up on this and blow us away next year with a new machine and actual gameplay rather than just teaser trailers.
@JohnLocke: It wasn't at the press conference but Avatar Motocross Madness is mentioned in the press release. It has a couple of other XBLA games they didn't mention too.
It also says Gears: Judgment is releasing in early 2013, crazy!
