Mooncraft 2011 : Should the moon be round?

#1 Edited by Lokno (368 posts) - 1 year, 7 months ago

Mojang AB is currently crunching during the last week before feature freeze. Today on twitter Notch posted these screens of potential moon phases. Issue with the fanbase is that the moon is currently round. So he posted a poll: http://poll.pollcode.com/A0qQ_result

Stupid subject, maybe, but you can't really have phases with a square moon. I'm sort of following it because I'm amused that there are some really heated comments and the poll is currently divided down the middle.

Edit: The poll title implies they will change the sun to match.

Round...ish is far better than square.

I never understood that. Enough blocks far enough away make a circle...

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. Also, Cubivore did the square sun thing already.

Why is this a big deal? I'm sure most people get a texture pack and change the moon to whatever they want the first place!

The important question is:
Will the sun still be square?

Because I don't want the moon to be more hip than the sun.
But then again, I've heard it's hip to be square... Hmm, now I don't know what to think.

@MaFoLu: In that case they should be cats.

I doubt that's a thing on the xbox.

Oh yeah, forgot that was even happening. Well if you're buying the xbox version, you can't possibly be that anal about the minute details of minecraft otherwise you'd already be playing it on the PC.

I'd prefer that Mojang find a way to leave it square and still implement phases, but if geometry needs to be compromised for cool new features, so be it.

I voted square, although I should probably have at least played some of the pre-release builds to see what the round moon looks like in action.
