I finally have a working farm underground, fed by lake runoff. Finished my mining base at level 14. Looking to secure caverns and abandoned mine. At the same time, laying hte foundation and first floor walls to my project build. Everytime I get the wall perimeter done, the server changes or the world file starts anew. One more time!

@Massif: Yeah, I've lost plenty in there to creepers, cave spiders and lava, but something inside me just loves getting lost in the twisting caverns and discovering new ravines, lit only by the natural lava falls and shrouded in fog. Then the resulting relief when you finally find another natural exit, or a stairway to the surface carved by another traveller. It is all very fantastic.

@Shademonger: You make Minecraft sound oh-so glamorous.
He certainly does give it more flair than I would be able to.
@Shademonger: I realize our town feels like it's embedded deep within Louisiana, but it hasn't gotten to me that badly quite yet. And it isn't a computey screen, it's a magic picture box.
@weeman105: Oh man, we should totally build a Louisana Bayou backwater town at some point with all of the houses up on stilts a la Left 4 Dead 2. And perhaps MORE water...
I'm getting like .0005 frames per second. Anyone else?
edit: Happened right after I fell to my death...

its not a computey screen or a magic picture box. Its the Devils box of obscenity and lies.
Oh god I can't type like that anymore. Seriously, it hurts. Anyway, is there ever going to be a New Alastia? Because I'd be all up in that. Also, I'll probably have a bunch of spare cobble laying around since I finished my house if you need it for the wall.

Likely due to the experience orbs that fall from you when you die. I read about it earlier when I was adding shit to the wiki. I don't think there is any sort of solution or fix yet, but I'm not sure, I didn't read too much about it.
@atejas: I saw an explosion right near the wall, too, and was kinda confused. Hearing you, though, makes me thing the new stone bricks are creeper-proof. Pretty cool. Wish they were endermen-proof...
Down with the endermen! And if the bricks are explosion resistant ... this needs testing. I'll set up a pad outside the town and spar with some creepers to verify this. The things I do for you guys ....
Edit: Well my tests make it seem like the bricks are resistant at least. Less of them seem to break when an explosion goes off, although Nodderly's run in with a creeper next to the wall put my theory back into question.
I believe if there are less resistant blocks nearby, they will absorb all of the explosion. I've had them detonate inside of an all-graystone structure and I believe since there was nothing else to take the force, a single block popped out of place directly beneath the creeper. Graystone is pretty nice.
I'll totally finish the moat trench, although I'm not sure it will be sufficient as a 1 block moat. Endermen are about as annoying as creepers, just in a more stealthy manner.

Oh god thank you Notch!!!
Hallelujah! I can only imagine the complaints he must have been inundated with.
Oh my god. Praise Jesus. Praise Allah. Praise the holy light of the Beacon. We shall remember these days as the before-times.@Massif said:

Kinda sad, as that really set them apart, but it seemed really fucking annoying so I'm okay with this.
@FunExplosions: Praise Arés! Praise Science! Praise...I don't know...Flying Spaghetti Monster?
But seriously, I haven't had it happen to me, but I'm glad for all those who've had to deal with it. They should set some special block that disappears on it's own after a few minutes if it's not harvested or something...instead of just being teleporting zombies with social issues. Something to set them more apart.

Woohoo!
To the one removing signs, please stop! Wagwell, me and Luchadeer built the Triumphgate yesterday. When I log on today I find that the signs saying so has been away. Which is weird, since they left the "NOT DONE" sign.
Did you just need two signs? Not that hard to make.. Plenty of trees around.
Anyways, thanks to the one finishing the roof!

Got frustrated with AWS, so I made a new mob! :D imgur.com/ADYrx?full

...though I doubt we'll ever see some around spawn, which is kinda sad, due to the melting thing.
Also, what's AWS?
Any news on when the next patch is rolling out? I'd like these endermens to stop playing with my wall.
New Bourbon is looking pretty slick, the view from the construction site at my castle gets better and better every day. Hopefully I can wrap up construction fairly soon and concentrate on other things. Eldrin started repurposing one of the NPC villages into a functional outpost for extended travels, so if you're out in the vicinity of 500,500 be sure to check it out. I put up a wall and weeman and I found an unexplored system of caverns / abandoned mineshafts rich with minerals if that tickles your fancy.
The renewed interest in the server is fantastic, I just wish I had the time that some of you seem to have (I'm looking at you, Murundi).
There was talk of an archery range, but a lack of arrows. We were thinking a chicken farm might help. Here is a link to an automated chicken farm. (not quite sure how it works)
Not sure how available I'll be, but I'd be happy to help.
@Shademonger: Haha! I have all the time in the world until December when I start my new job. Skyrim is comming out in November so no more Minecraft that month, therefor I will minecraft the hell out of our new world until then!
If you need anything Shademonger just ask, I wouldn't mind gathering resources or helping you build for you for the right... carrot on a stick.
Working with Wagwell on the triumphgate was fun. We need to come up with some new projects to work together on.
@Mikemcn: You may have to download a new client. A while ago they updated the client and it did the same thing for me until I updated it.

Yep, I finally downloaded the new client this update; was getting the same error.
Been playing around in 1.9, here's some screenshots of new stuff that I've seen.
From left to right. village NPC, better swamp biomes, Netherbrick items (stairs, fences, bricks) , massive snowy biome, nether slime, snowmen (made from 2 snow blocks and a pumpkin)
I've got more to add but the image uploader broke on me. The nether now has strongholds built from Nether bricks and a new mob called a 'Blaze' that flies around and flings fire at you.
