The time and effort to put this together must have been rigorous and disdainful, especially compared to some of the other wacky stuff people have made with Notch's masterpiece. This whole thing will make you question the integrity and ingenuity of the human spirit like no other. Prepare to be astounded, for this is some deep shit, son.

So..he built each scene..took a picture...then made the next one...and repeated? Damn...

Not sure if I should be jealous of this dude's dedication or pity how much time he must have on his hands.

People have developed mod software for Minecraft that can do stuff like scan a digital image and render in in minecraft block form. I assume this must have been done using some kind of mod software like that. Doing this manually would have taken years.

@Liber: Not to say I blame anyone for being skeptical. I assumed they'd used some kind of mod until I saw the making-of video.

Edit: It shows enough. There really isn't any reason to assume they're lying about their method.

If they recorded themselves building at least 1 complex ingame screen and speed up the video that would be far more convincing. For me it just looks like they made the gameboy screens with a map editor and said "break some of these blocks and try to looks like you are building it".

Yeah. I'm not trying make this seem less awesome, because it still is, but this isn't as great as it first appears. First off, there's numerous mods and software out there that lets you map your Minecraft maps in any old image editor, and then import that into a Minecraft map. That's how this guy did it, or at least how he did some of it. Maybe what he did, was copy and paste each scene, or parts of scenes that were the same between frames, and then manually place blocks in the places where there were changes. This is unlikely, though. If he truly did do this for the whole fucking game, then he probably did the foremost option, and went full-on image editor. That being said, he would still have to do it frame-by-frame, and as we see here, there's seemingly more than five frames per second. So the guy is insane, regardless.

edit: seems like it was a team, not just a guy. I stand by my statement, though. Still crazy.

But I don't stand to gain anything by doubting the validity of what I saw in the video, nor do I have anything to lose if it turns out they're a bunch of liars. So, having no investment in it either way, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

That thing must be huge. The dude must be like a billion meters in the air just to achieve that resolution.... Pretty cool even though I was more initially amazed by the minecraft Enterprise.

Yea I guess you are right.

I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but man that's a lot of man hours wasted on something so unnecessary.

Gonna have to agree with this guy. I got bored WATCHING the production. And even if it didn't take as long as it would have if done manually, I can't imagine how much time had to go into this.

I admire the dedication, but can't it be channeled somewhere more productive? I've never fully understood people who are this dedicated to Minecraft (my brother being one of them).

Even if it was done in image-mod software or whatever it is, that still must have took a shitton of time even if the guy took 1 of every 3 frames in the real game.
