I have been thinking of buying this on steam for $20 but I was wondering if it is still a good game by today standards, is it?
Mirror's Edge
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Nov 11, 2008
In a futuristic totalitarian dystopia, a master courier (in a group of renegade "runners") investigates a conspiracy, while outrunning the deadly government military, in this parkour-inspired first-person action game.
Worth buying?
" I have been thinking of buying this on steam for $20 but I was wondering if it is still a good game by today standards, is it? "I have it, haven't played it, but if I remember correctly, I saw the 360 version for just $15 at KMart today. Why go digital when it is so cheap to get a physical copy?
It's definitely an interesting take on first person gaming. I mean a game that revolves around parkour is pretty awesome right? Well, having played it and beaten it within the span of 5 hours, I'd say that it's not worth $20. 10 maybe. The story is pretty shoddy and the controls are sometimes quite frustrating. And guns were a bad idea. There's some stuff wrong with the game. I would wait or not buy it at all. Worst $35 I ever spent.
i bought it very cheap on a steam sale a while ago, and i recommend that you purchase it, too. there a number of very minor problems, but nothing preventing you from enjoying it. i'm not sure if this will help or not, but it also has a very good soundtrack.
I bought it for like 6 bucks in a Steam sale. I played half-way through it and still haven't gone back to it. The story is a complete joke, and I was never able to find this 'flow' that everyone keeps talking about. I liked it, but not really that much. 6 bucks is a good price.
Good game with flaws. Try the demo first to get a feel of how the game works.
Once you get into the flow, it's awesome. Though when you get broken out of it, it gets a bit painful.
Still, it's an interesting game that I atleast think everyone should check out.
I absolutely love this game, if you like innovative games then you should get it (much cheaper to get physical copy, check amazon). If you just want something accessible and not too challenging though you probably won't like it.
For that price it's definitely worth it, I've really enjoyed what I've played of it (should probably get around to finishing it at some point in my life). Even if ultimately you find it frustrating and stop enjoying it after a point I still think it's an interesting game with some cool ideas which for $20 (that's under £15 right?) is definitely worth getting.
Buy it. Do not listen to the naysayers. I never understood the hate of this game among the GB staff. This game is one my favorites games of all time. Buy it.
Yes! An awesome game, I feel bad for just paying $5~ for it on Steam D: My only real gripe with the game is that the combat often seems out of place and isn't implemented that well. But aside from that; I thought it was a great game with some well thought out levels, interesting game mechanics, and some of the best visual design I've seen in any game.
I really enjoyed the game. It is definitely unique. I would play another one if they do in fact follow up on it. Also on the trials, I loved trying to best them, being baffled, then 'you tubing' a top run, and just seeing how I was doing everything COMPLETELY wrong! Amazed me how much I missed.
I paid less than $10 for it last fall on the consoles. (I honestly don't remember if I played the 360 or PS3 version) Personally, I played it for about an hour and never went back because I didn't like it. The game is very love it or hate it. While I have met more people that disliked it, the people I've met who do like it seem to REALLY like it.
