This studio was founded in 2004 by Hironobu Sakaguchi with financial help from Microsoft. Microsoft hoped that Sakaguchi's reputation attached to Xbox 360 games such as Blue Dragon and Lost Odessy would help drive sales in Japan, a region in which the Xbox brand has struggled since the first Xbox. Mistwalker does not develop games by themselves but works with associate developers such as Feel Plus, Artoon and Brownie Brown. Mistwalker focuses on story, music and the overall development.
