#1 Posted by MiasmaFett (129 posts) -

I don't understand why you people are still surprised by their bullshit. What the hell were you all expecting? Where none of you around when they hiked up the PC price, and all the other bullshit they've done?

You can't make an unbelievable claim without providing a link! Give us a link!

#10 Posted by Pazy (2563 posts) -

For "hardcore" gamers its definately hard to take when you buy new games all the time and download full game experiences for less than the price of the map pack. The problem is that it will most likely work, a large number of the MW2 players seem not be the "Hardcore" gamers but the kind of gamers who own 1/2/3 games which are the most mainstream titles like FIFA/PES/Madden and MW2 (or Cod's) so for them its a one time payment when they dont otherwise spend much on games and have no concept of the value of 1200MSP.

Still if I was playing a lot of MW2 I wouldent want to pay 1200, id rather keep it and get a whole new game for 800/1200 points from XBL. Though again if I was playing a lot of MW2 you almost have to get the mappack to continue playing, if you dont you will most likely get dropped every second match and your friends will get pissed you arent following along with them.

#11 Posted by Skytylz (4031 posts) -

They are trying to stimulate there financial situation at Activision by ripping a bunch of people off.

#12 Posted by Forcen (1811 posts) -

I wonder if it is the same price on Steam.

#16 Posted by EpicSteve (6479 posts) -

That's what happens when World at War DLC sells millions. YOU FOOLS!

#17 Posted by nrain (1274 posts) -

What are you avin' a giraffe mate!?

but seriously Bungie charge 800 for 3 maps, so yeah no big deal.
#18 Posted by MiasmaFett (129 posts) -

I didn't buy a single piece of world at war dlc i am not to blame ! : )

#19 Posted by DystopiaX (5300 posts) -

will not buy. Will spend money instead on buying the 3 Fallout 3 DLCs (anchorage, Pit, mothership zeta) I don't have. I heard they were shitty buy i don't care. I have never spent money on DLC map packs, and this certainly isn't going to get me to start.

#20 Posted by Ryax (4630 posts) -

shiiit. i just listened to that shit. 14.99. jesus fucking christ. why would any one pay 15 for 5 maps. 2 of which are re used from cod4

#21 Posted by ArchScabby (5809 posts) -

Get as mad as you want but 2 million people are still going to buy it, and then they'll buy the next one for the same price, and the next one, and then the next one for 20 dollars.

#22 Posted by ch13696 (4582 posts) -

OMFG. Well, I kinda knew this would happen. Well, I got the first map pack on CoD 4 for free. So hopefully the same will happen with this one. If not then oh well. I don't need to play MP. I'll just get the trophy's for the 69 stars and beating it on Veteran then I'm done.

#23 Posted by MiasmaFett (129 posts) -

because they are fools

#24 Posted by Hitchenson (4682 posts) -

800MSP for Perfect Dark or more maps for Modern Warfare 2 for 1,200MSP? Roll on Joanna!

#25 Posted by Hourai (2795 posts) -

I won't be buying it. I don't have enough money to blow $15 on maps for a game I play maybe twice a month.

That's true. But it has to stop somewhere. Where will it stop? Next thing you know Activision will charge $70 for their Call of Duty games.
#27 Posted by Azteck (7449 posts) -

I think I'll buy Shadow Complex instead. Sorry Activision, but I'm in no way loyal to you.

#28 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11618 posts) -

Of course... we all forget that it's ok for bungie to charge $10 for 3 maps, which is technically more expensive PER MAP than this one is. But it's Activision. What do you expect?

#29 Posted by Andorski (5268 posts) -

Not buying it because MW2 is boring now.  The high price point is just an added hindrance.

#30 Posted by iBePeRFeCT (396 posts) -

1200msp aren't to bad when you get to play Overgrown and Crash on MW2.  With Bungie charging 800 for 3 maps I can't really complain.

The worst part is 2 are ports, even if they are the best maps of the series, it's shady as hell.

#34 Posted by Whisperkill (2969 posts) -

FUCK.THAT.

#35 Posted by PrintedCrayon (172 posts) -

Let's be honest, technically you are only paying for 3 NEW maps. 1,200 MSP for 3 new maps is a God-damn rip-off.

But, it isn't like none of us expected Activision would pull this kind of shit.

#36 Posted by spilledmilkfactory (1864 posts) -

wow, i'm glad i sold my copy of mw2. i can't see why anybody would be playing that game online still, but even if it was for a better online game, 15 bucks for 5 maps is pushing it. i'll spend my cash on braid instead, thanks.

It's the price point. We did the same for CoD 4. Because they were brand new maps. So, $15 for 3 new maps and 2 ported maps is kind of ridiculous.

Even though one map in every single Halo 3 map pack has been a remake of a previous Halo map? Sorry, that argument doesn't work in this case.
#40 Edited by AnEternalEnigma (281 posts) -

I don't like it, but it's still a better rate than Bungie charging $10 for 3 maps on Halo 3. In this, it's $3 a map. For Halo, it's about $3.33 a map.

#41 Posted by gosukiller (2324 posts) -

Funny thing is that more than enough people are going to buy this.

This reminds me of Steam-deals, but the opposite.
Something on a sale or reasonable price might get alot of sales, but in the end the ridiculously expensive stuff actually brings in more money, because there are more suckers out there than bargain-hunters.

#42 Posted by Ace829 (2083 posts) -

I'll be sticking to Battlefield:BC2 and save my MS Points for something that isn't a rip-off.

yeah, then 2 million people will buy it day one, and the next game, and then they will buy the next one for 100 dollars.  People are idiots.
#44 Posted by Kyreo (4600 posts) -

15 bucks for 5 maps?

3 bucks per map.

I'd pay that.  Easily.

#45 Posted by PrintedCrayon (172 posts) -

How much of the money spent on these maps will go to IW in royalties?

That's all I want to know.

#46 Posted by AnEternalEnigma (281 posts) -
@ch13696: Chinatown was not a new map. It was a re-skinned version of Carentan from CoD2.
#47 Posted by Meteora (5787 posts) -

Well look at the bright side, at least its not mandatory to pay.

Do they stop you from playing ranked matches if you don't have the map packs like they do in Halo?

None.
Why pay royalties to Infinity Ward when you can instead pay it to your lawyers?
Tricky Bobby has done the math.
