Did MW2 give you an E74 error on your Xbox 360? I got the E74 error the day after I started playing MW2. Two of my friends had the same thing happen to them within 3 days. I find this to be beyond mere coincidence. Just curious if anyone else had similar results.

Actually, in order for it to be a coincidence it has to occur at least twice. You're just one over the minimum, bub. (bummer about your 360, btw)

I don't think it is tied directly to MW2, just increased playing time, which in this case is due to MW2.  So basically, MW2 is still a threat.

I think the chance for people to get the RROD with MW2 is more likely because well... it sold a shitload of copies. The chances and stakes are higher now.

I highly doubt any game has given anyone the RROD or any kind of error. 
Unless of course people are dumb enough to say that a game company made a game that intentionally go in and ruin the hardware in the console. 
How that would work though, I have no idea.

But in all seriousness, this happens EVERY time a big game is released- people play their xbox more, it happens to RROD, people blame the game.

My cousin's 360 RRoDed after the second day he started playing MW2.

No, at least not yet.  I have had a couple of DREs, though, but those were solved by simply opening and closing the disc tray.

Mine red ringed last week while I was playing MW2.  I just figured its due to the 360's crappy hardware.  I've had my 360 since 2007 and it has broke on me twice.  The first time was during Christmas break in 2007.  Guess what game I was playing when my 360 died.  It was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.  I beginning to see a trend here.  I will be a little hesitant to purchase Modern Warfare 3.  It just sucks that I am on Thanksgiving break and I can't play any MW2.  Now I have to do something else - like go outside.

isn't RROD just an overheat problem? So it's not your 360 it's just the fact that you played MW2 too long in one sitting so your xbox never cooled down?

My friend's 360 wouldn't read his first two MW2 copies. And it just stopped reading his third one. It doesn't see the disc in the drive at all, so even HDD installation doesn't launch.

Install to the HDD? should fix any problems...  I never had a problem running any specific game so far *shrug*

that video is pretty out of date, most of those complaints were pretty valid back when it was made. Sony have picked up their act considerably since then. Altho I do have to say that the online features on my PS3 aren't anywhere near as cohesive and fleshed out as on my 360. Its getting better but the 360 is clearly the leader in that area, mostly because Sony are still playing catchup for feature parity on the online front.  
  
Its pretty easy to go buy 12 months Xbox live for $30 which for a year is pretty insignificant. I would actually prefer to pay a minimal amount per year to have the PS3 on a par with the Xbox Live service. 
 
On the positive front however the differences are gradually being reduced by Sony and hopefully their plans to introduce a paid service next year will allow Sony to finish closing that gap once and for all. The harder Sony work to close that gap the better as far as I am concerned having a better service on the PS3 will push Microsoft harder to innovate and competition is always a good thing. Especially as I own both platforms as i get to benefit on both fronts :)
