Difference between holographic and red dot site?

#1 Posted by Eric_Buck (1291 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

I can't tell the difference... is there one?

#2 Posted by R3Qui4M (407 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

Not much difference, but Holographic has slightly more zoom, so it is more precise, but the circle in the middle obscures the vision sometimes, and the overall size for it is smaller than Red Dot. so the choice is Precision or Vision.

Holographic will stay up in case of an EMP blast since it isn't electronic aside from the circle obscuring your vision a little they are about the same.

I prefer the red dot. Yet mostly I don't use either and just stick with mah bling bling.

I never use a scope.

You have the two mixed up, the holographic is the one that goes down. Hell, the level in the campaign where the EMP goes off, you have a holographic sight.

Oops, looks like I stand corrected:

@Driadon: No holographic stays up during an EMP blast Red dot goes down.

Or hell I just googled it and people are fighting about it so I Don't know but I know for a FACT that Red Dot does go away during an EMP.

Isn't the red dot visible to opponents with a sharp eye when you pan around, while the holographic is not (since it's "virtual)?

Holy shit. People have SUPER VISON?! Seriously, I have a hard time seeing my team mates red dots... not that I want to. Trying to find a tiny red dot while someones turning... that's ridiculous!

@Eric_Buck:
lol, i was thinking exactly the same thing. the only difference i can see is that theyre in two different sections so if u equip the perk where u can attach 2 things then it gives u more options. if u get what i mean

i'm not sure i follow

in any case i prefer the red dot, the bigger field of vision helps a bunch when things get hectic

Maybe they should have changed the holographic sight with LASER VISION

#14 Posted by flyingfruit (63 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

i think that with bling you should be able to have two scopes on

if we are still just throwing opinions out there

#15 Posted by Karmum (11470 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

Not much, really. Holographic takes up more space and allows for more precision. Red Dot Sight is well, a red dot.

#16 Posted by natetodamax (18954 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

The Red Dot is simply a red dot, and the Holographic site is a dot with a ring around it

@flyingfruit: If you want two scopes then I want to be able to put 2 silencers on a gun so that it doesn't make any noise at all.

Or dual FMJ add-ons, for territory destroying Double Jacket ammunition? Or...

#20 Posted by Bubahula (2197 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

am i crazy or is there already a thread about this?
#21 Posted by ZeForgotten (9764 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago
@Bubahula: Nobody seems to care anymore.
Everyone's given up on the rules about not posting billions and billions of threads about the same damn thing.
Even our mods who are usually on a locking spree have totally let us down! :(

I don't care for holo sight, but I suppose with time I could like it more, the smaller red dot in the middle makes it a bit more precise I suppose =P But Red dot is classic!

in all seriousness, it'd be pretty cool to be able to use, say, the acog scope and the red dot sight at the same time with Bling. You could press a direction on the d-pad to swtich between the two, allowing you to be equipped for close range and long range combat.
