Alright guys. I just fired up my Steam client, and it popped up to tell me something that I think some of you might be interested in.
 

Apparently, starting at 4PM Pacific time on Thursday, the online component of the game will be accessible to all for free!

I've boycotted it so far but as its free I'll give it a try so I can give an objective opinion of the game.

Sweet, thanks dude.  I'll have to download it so I can break my computer in half trying to get it to run well on my mediocre computer :P

Even though I have already had the Xbox 360 version sign midnight launch, I will try this just to see how the game is on PC.

I've played a bunch of this on a Xbox over at a friends. Have NO intention of playing the the free stuff ofered at steam. At least not when I can play BC2, which is by far more awesome!

Fuck that's clever of them. I guarantee droves of people who have it all loaded on their harddrives when the trial ends will just say "oh it's already downloaded, might as well click 'buy'".

For the duders who have it on 360/PS3 and are gonna try it on PC: You're gonna be amazed by the connection issues.

Might as well give this horribly balanced, hacker-infested game a try on the PC. I mean, with 16xAA and 1080p resolution, it can't be AS bad as the xbox 360 version... can it?

EDIT: Went back to the old UI, worked.

The game requires constant updates, I know most people were never able to get on. I ended up just deleting it in the middle of the huge download. MW2 is a pile of shit anyways and Activision can suck it. In the end it came down to, "I could play this reeking pile of pig shit they call a game...or I could play good games this weekend." Guess which option I went with?
 
Also, I like how there is a "sale" for MW2 this weekend yet even on sale the game is still more expensive than most full PC releases. Eat my asshole Bobby Kotick.

I thought it was alright; not worth 50 dollars though. Does MW1 still have a decent player base? it's only 30$ on amazon

Boys avoid it. MW2 was a hack ridden mess on pc when I left to the greener pastures of the PS3. The amount of wallhacking was unreal. Have fun with your nats and connections

Hopefully with these free weekenders, there's less of a chance to run into cheaters.

Downloaded on Wednesday tried it on Thursday night just to get a error!! Fixed that error to get another Error!!  Seems like for some reason they didn't install everything when I did it so I said screw it and deleted it.....  Later tried to download it to see if they fixed it then it tells me the download it going to take 7 hours, man I don't even want it that much so at this point for only 1 day free I don't care, they screwed up and unless they give more free days i don't care.

My experience with MW2 so far: massive amounts of P2P lag, connection issues, getting DC'd from steam and unable to form lobbies, horribly unbalanced weapons, boring maps, and lots of little kiddies dragged in from the consoles. No thanks.
