Earlier this week, Uber Entertainment started drip feeding details about Monday Night Combat's upcoming free DLC in a feature series called "Monday Night Combat Halloween Unmasking." The series came to an end with a bang the other afternoon, as the final and most substantial bits of information were shared. The DLC, which is called Spunky Cola Special, is coming this November. And it's packed with tons of stuff, ranging from an assortment of special feature additions, character tweaks and balance fixes, two new maps, and even a new mode. Believe it.
Spunky Cola Special gets its name, presumably, from the most interesting piece of content it adds: a new competitive map called the Spunky Cola Arena. Perhaps a bit out of the limelight but just as important to the fanatical MNC fan is the DLC's second map, Survivitol Arena, which is a survival-only joint.
And while we're on the subject of the ooh's and aah's of new DLC, let's get this out of the way: the aforementioned additional mode being added is "Super Sudden Death Blitz," a fresh "frantic" version of--you guessed it--Blitz mode.
== TEASER ==The list of tweaks and additional extras the DLC will be ushering in is, in fine Uber tradition, ridiculous huge. Of note, you'll be receiving more private match options when the DLC hits. For example, you'll get the ability to toggle overtime durations, hazards, Juice prices and more. The DLC will also carry some pre-existing map updates, as Uber has been fiddling with specific jump pad and turret locations. Oh, and if you wanted more Pro Tags, a Prestige mode, or even more announcer stuff, well, you'll get that too.
The "patch" notes, which really get into the character tweaks and new additions, are available over at Uber's blog for MNC. Here's the post that deals the with character tweaks and balance changes. This is the post that mentions the new pick-ups, Pro Tags, and other presentation stuff. And you can check out this one to learn about all the new private map options (with pictures).
I feel Monday Night Combat sucking me back in already. But, lord, I'm going to have to practice. I'd imagine the peeps that are still playing the game religiously like I once did are ridiculous good by now. Anyone know any cheat codes? I could go for a win button or something.
