So I'm now level 22 and I still have no idea what the levelling in the game does or adds... is it just cosmetic, like an indicator of how long that person's been playing or is there something I'm missing?  'Cause really, it doesn't mention anywhere what levels are for.

You gain money per match and need a certain amount of money to gain levels. The money can be used to buy custom class slots and titles. The locker room is basically a place for you to spend the money.

It's akin to the levelling system in Modern Warfare and games of that ilk.

The actual number? Nothing. But the money you earn can be used to buy titles and custom class slots.

Alright, thought as much - was just making sure.  I was aware that money bought me titles/custom class slots but I thought the actual number had some significance, guess it is just an indicator as to how long/much that person's played...

I think they might use it in arranging the teams. Other than that, nothing.

It's been pretty funny to see peoples bemusement over the fact that the levelling system is purely cosmetic.

@Gamer_152: Oh, I don't mind - I actually kinda prefer it this way, or even have no levels at all - I don't like how if someone's played longer than you they have more and better weapons than you, that kinda levelling system I'm not a fan of really.

I think it's okay when you can unlock alternate weapons through playing the game but yeah, I really don't like when better weapons can be unlocked through play.

Yup, it just tells you who will own who. I'm a level 35 and have a fair amount of skill( It's also nice to play a game where you really need skill not just luck) so i normally finish in the top 3, however i faced a team of 3 level 49, a 68, and some lower level ones. I got crushed.
