From what I've seen the game looks pretty silly yet solid, and seems to have a fair bit of depth/longevity for an XBLA title. I'll probably withhold judgment until a quick look or review but right now I'm pretty tempted, and like most of you guys I also love Mondays...
Monday Night Combat
Game » consists of 3 releases. Released Aug 11, 2010
A multiplayer-focused third-person shooter that borrows elements from both Team Fortress 2 and Defense of the Ancients. Take control of one of six personified Classes and defend your Moneyball in a futuristic sports environment.
Will you be getting it?
" @AjayRaz said:it's not bad but a game like that seems like it could use a larger player cap for me." honestly, after i heard the player cap, i lost all possible interest "You mean 6 v 6? I don't think that's bad. I'll probably pick it up, looks pretty cool. "
i know, i shouldn't be expecting much considering it's a Live Arcade game but a game like Monday Night Combat looks like it could seriously benefit from a 9 v 9 (or so) player cap.
After watching a couple of developer guides on Youtube, I'm quite excited for it, but again 1200 seems a little to much, at least with the type of money I earn. The only reason I might buy it, is to get 400 points back :D
Not sure if Gianbomb has posted the developer walkthroughs, but you can find them here:

I went from "WTF is this shit?" about a week ago to overhyping myself an hour ago. I've watched both developer walkthroughs twice and the nuances keep looking better every time. :\
I kind of agree with
@AjayRaz:
that 6 seems a little small (plus only 4 maps) but the gameplay looks so deep and enjoyable, even if you're losing, that I can't pass it up. 6 actually seems especially small since there are 6 classes, but it seems like as long as you have at least one support guy you could double up on other classes without losing an edge.Plus, like many others, this means I'll get 400 power pellets in a few weeks.
(Also, none of my friends play BC2 as often as I do and it seems like some will be getting this, so that's great.)
((In addition: bacon.))
((( )))
" Seems alright, but do XBLA games ever maintain a community for more than a few weeks? "That is what worries me, this is not Battlefield 1943, it's not a big release so the amount of people buying it, let alone keep playing it, is quite questionable. I already have enough points on my account to buy it, and with the extra 400 I think I'll be able to buy Comic Jumper when that is released so I might as well go ahead and do it.
Nope, I'm alright. Game looks cool and all, but hey, I've already got TF2 on Steam, so I don't really see the point in getting this. Besides, it's a relatively unknown XBLA multiplayer game, it's going to die really quickly.
These Team Fortress 2 comparisons are starting to get a little old, yes they are similar in in a few ways but the objectives are completely different and the game play is a hell of a lot different from TF2. If anything you could say that Monday Night Combat is made out of TF2 and DOTA gameplay elements combined, it isn't just some crappy TF2 clone like people seem to suspect it is.
As you can tell I'll be getting it, got my 1200 points ready!
" Seems alright, but do XBLA games ever maintain a community for more than a few weeks? "This is basically what I'm thinking. I may wait about a month to see just so I don't waste my money, and Madden comes out the day before so I won't exactly be itching for a new game.
I totally would, except I don't own a 360. They should definitely consider putting this on PC; a couple of my PC friends also were looking at this as well.
Nope. My Xbox live gold just expired and I don't feel like renewing it until I find a game that I know will have a dedicated community and I know my friends will play. Which pretty much means either Halo Reach or Call of Duty Black Ops. I think this might be the first summer of arcade where I don't buy anything.
I've hyped too many games to count this year, with Miles Edgeworth Investigations and Hydro Thunder Hurricane being the only games that didn't disappoint. (I bet I'm missing something but those are the two games that instantly come to mind)
With that said, this game is probably my most hyped this year. Excited to the point of having watched the developer walkthroughs probably 3+ times each. It's a game I can see myself playing well into the future as I have done with TF2 on the 360.
Warming up to it after the support class walkthrough - AI robots was a good addition to make the game more alive than it actually is. Taunts and "call signs/titles" are dumb though.
Could you expand on that? Pro-tags are nothing more than titles from MW2, a little phrase to put next to your gamertag when you kill someone. Taunts get you more money for a kill when successfully executed. It's just another risk/reward system. Can't see what's bad about that.
" @Malakhii said:Don't forget that the game is also full of AI Robots running around the stage with the human players." @AjayRaz said:it's not bad but a game like that seems like it could use a larger player cap for me. i know, i shouldn't be expecting much considering it's a Live Arcade game but a game like Monday Night Combat looks like it could seriously benefit from a 9 v 9 (or so) player cap. After watching the developer walkthrough and reading the interview with them, I'm sold on the game. I think I'll be picking it up on Wednesday.
No, I've got my hands full with Starcraft 2 and Demon's Souls and Halo: Reach and Civ V are coming out soon.
A PC release would be just fine. Although after watching that Civ V feature, I went back to playing Civ IV and already have lost a night of sleep because of it. I do not need another reason not to sleep.
Wow I left this topic when it had 5 posts and forgot about it. If I get this I will have two summer of arcade releases, might be tough to justify not getting another for the 400 point rebate...
